Subject: [NT] Discussion

2007-04-29 06:01:02
"Ummm being interested, and knowing anything useful to help are two entirely different things."

brion was participating in a discussion in the Sokker International forum where a user had posted his tactic on youtube. brion indicated an interest in tactics, and a dissatsifaction with his own tactics. I don't think he was trying to "help" the nats team so much as educate himself in regards to tactics. Further, HT generally uses offsite forums where a nation's users can login after verification to talk about tactics for the national team (and I think it would be silly to only allow users who pass islander's l33t sokker pwnag3 test to discuss the team). His idea, in and of itself, is not a bad one...

"In fact, if you can get over your own myopic and phallic fascination towards me for just a moment, you'll notice I classified myself as being unqualified to really provide good advice to the NT."

Hmm... first of all, I'm always amused when people misuse words in attempt to sound smart. "Myopic and phallic fascination" is probably not the phrase you wanted to use, unless you wanted to appear to be a dumb person trying to sound smart. Second of all, I think anyone, within reason, is qualified to give good advice to the NT.

*yawn*

Fascination with the mutual admiration club aside, i think that posting a NT tactic for any large group would be the utmost folly.

The 2 best ways to get help with tactics imho:

1) get a mentor to discuss your tactic with them

2) get plus and watch matches, see where the players are running when the ball is in different postiions, and look at how the teams create space and shut down opposition space.

If you don't want plus, you can still watch NT games, even tho the players are so much better than any of our teams (especially the teams who really need the tactic help), it doens't apply as well as successful teams in your tier or one higher...

Btw, if you wanna learn about tactics, fromo isn't the worst person you could choose to watch, although his use of wingers is somewhat unique in the USA.

Edit: I should say "successful use of wingers" - many of us try, to limited success when compared to fromo :)

2007-04-30 00:45:33
My guess is Charles Stokes, but I don't really know for sure.

He's probably the highest goal scorer for any NT.

no, Vladislovas Korsakas is the leader.

Paweł Turkowski has scored 87 goals, but soon he will be the leader - give him 2-3 NT matches.

I can't discuss line up but this is a crucial match for us.

Expect changes because what we've had so far was not working.

Go get them!

I would find this a very difficult match to prepare for. Hungary played an extreme tactic last week, and it paid off huge. So what do they do this week ... extreme again, or back to something more conventional? :S

Good luck!
