I knew you'd be confident about winning.
I was, and I won it. I knew my simplistic tactic would do, cause I played yours already 2 seasons ago! (USA - België; quarterfinal) The USA tactic was the same as in the last 2 games. It can't get any easier..
For the untrained tactical eye, my tactic perhaps looks the same, but the idea was totally different. Today, I tried to press USA away, because I knew Stokes is dangerous from distance. You can see what I mean in the play in the half percentages.

dude,m you had play in half advantages because you've ALWAYS pressed with your defense. All three games you did. Your defense is amazingly fast as well as defensively skilled. Hands down better then any other team.
Stokes scored too, I might add. Using a philosophy that I gathered from watching your previous matches. Something your other two opponents didn't do well enough.

Hehe :) Maybe a little bit frustrated about being eliminated? I can understand, it's never nice getting eliminated by a monkey ;)
no, being eliminated was a foregone conclusion after our (imo) more disappointing loss to Czech the previous game.
I knew all along we'd need luck to not lose. Look at the ranks in the match. Look at the match ratings. Your team, even with predictable tactics - and they are predictable - can't be beat if you don't have close to the same skill level.
The USA, being a smaller country in Sokker, simply doesn't have those talented players. Yet.

Yes, my tactics was predictable today (as I said before I modified it quite a bit because my philosophy was different then in the Ceska game). There was no need for a total change because you played with the same tactic.. It was clear to my that you wouldn't cover our winger because your defense is to compact and the tactic wouldn't change.
But anyway, my first words were a bit harsh. I'll try to make up by saying: Good luck for the future, USA.

There was no need ot cover your winger. He was a non-factor in the result.
The only people who needed covering were your two strikers. And on the whole, we did a pretty good job. Two of your goals were from waaay far away, and there isn't really anything you can do about that.
Personally, I liked most of Lakay's tactic. I'd have made just one change, and put a 5th player back also covering the middle. Still, that probably wouldn't have mattered that much. Certainly not something I'd question Lakay on - he had his own idea of what he wanted to do...probably try to generate more offense against an uber defense...and that philosophy is understandable also.
With a talent disadvantage that great, we still needed luck in any scenario. Tactics can only make your players play efficiently. It can't make them play over their skill level.

LOL, most countries can scrounge up a couple great keepers though. Thats just an equalizer.
I thought Bogan played reasonably well. I'd still use him over Cleveland.
Those strikers were, over these three games, the best pair I may have ever seen (granted, I don't watch Polish games).

Im back from my vacation the match against Denmark from the match report looked average. I think Lakay could have done better with the passing and shooting but, we came away with a win on the other hand I am dissapointed witht the 3-0 result to Czec I was thinking we would be more of a competeter in that game. For the Netherlands game from the Match Report it looks like we a had a good amount of possesion just couldnt do anything with it.

yes, but we are already automatically qualified for the top 32 teams.
