Subject: Defender or striker?

Here are the stats for one of my youth pulls:

weak stamina, hopeless keeper
hopeless pace, very good defender
excellent tech, unsat playmaker
weak passing, good striker

He is 18 years old and I have played him as defender so far. He receives a rating of 27 as defender and I have not used him as a striker yet. Only been out for a week or so. Opinions on what direction I should take with him would be greatly appreciated.

I think rob is right. The problem with him being a defender is that you would really want to improve the pace and PM. PM isn't nearly as important for strikers as it is for defenders (unless you like watching your defenders kick the ball out of bounds).

depends on who you are training. if you are defender training for a few seasons, make him a defender. All he needs then is pace and PM. No big deal.

If you are training mids, sell him off and let someone else decide what to do with him :)

I just think you should play him as an offensive wingback when you play me.


Edit: as an explanation, if you played him offensively, i'd constantly be getting around or behind him, and he wouldn't really do well anyway.

Is this a rule of thumb, or an actual rule? Also, does this apply to banned teams?

i was just saying it's a great advantage for a team to know an opponent's formation and tactic if you're able to scout etc. So the game doesn't adjust the skills i was just suggesting valley could overcome a skill disadvantage somewhat. :)

Just out of curiosity, I had a team recently banned in my league (he is from Ukraine so when they formed a league he got a new team). Week one his team defaults, the next week he has a lineup. Why is that?

Not that it should impact things much, but it gives that one lucky team a 5-0 win and a huge GD boost, while the next week the team has a default lineup (which is pretty good all things considered), and really gives the week one opponent an unfair advantage. My understanding is once a team defaults, it will continue to do so until new ownership. Seems like a really unfair thing to have occurred.

I'd guess sheva actually had an invalid formation set for the walkover, then after it was bot-ified it had the auto formation set.

So blame sheva for not setting a formation.

In any case, if trouser snakes' bot team beat him 4-0, you'll probably beat him by more than that with the crappy bot formation and half players, so you actually had the advantage :P

Oh Guac I know that, but I kind of mean in a different situation, if could cause an unfair advantage in a different situation, ya know?

What's worse is Vision is currently selling his players in A.03.

Vision gave up obviously...

He had one of the higest ranked teams, consistenly in the top 5. Only reason he wasn't able to repromote is horrible management last season imho (because he wasn't logging in obviously).

So now I BARELY beat him, and he tied against poor sudan. But the rest of the teams in our series are gonna get 8-0 crushings i'm sure (unless they get walkovers fully).

He gets marks/value because all his players had ridiculous pm but nothing else - example is jake cunningham which you all can see. marks of low 50's but really not too good a player
