I don't see how he'd "own" the middle of the field with only solid defense.

Cause with incredible pace, he'll get to the ball first. The Defense is only necessary to steal the ball, but with high tech and pace, he'll be able to outrun his mistakes.

Getting his defense up high enough is going to be a challenge. I've already got some decent young center mids with solid defense. I'm counting on a few random pops to help me out there. I really don't want to do more than 6 or so defense training weeks between now and the end of next season. I AM looking forward to some tech training too - I have forwards that need it as well.

He's 20. Do the defense in 2 seasons when it's not so painful for the rest of your team.

I am doing def this week. I'm doing tech the week I play Billy - I can't win that one, so playing a 5-5-0 formation with the mids getting tech won't matter all that much.... :)

You did. Swinging a tie against you would be worth changing things up a bit. Although I had frankly forgotten about my pre-accident plan of 5-5-0, and may change my mind back.... :)

Yup. I changed my mind. I'm training tech, and am playing my a-team. But to maximize my training for the week, I'm giving them VERY odd orders. The game should look very odd.

real difference b/t the two is, you KNOW what Jarhead is. The other guy, he's like a hodgepodge of everything.

Re: Jarhead and defense. He needs it a bit, but not as much as it appears - he's easily one training week away from a pop there. I actually thought I'd get a random there this week along with the PM pop. He's getting a defense training week this season as soon as it appears (if I does) that I've either locked up a top 4 finish or can't finish better than 5 in the ML. Until that time, I'm training things that will help out my entire team (e.g. pace, stamina) without having to do more odd things in formations or orders to maximize training.

Besides, I'd almost bet my good leg that he'll pop to outstanding in pace this week if I train him in that.... :)
