Subject: Formation question.

We know there is a limit of players who can play in certain formations during one match. As I am going to be experimenting a bit I’d like to know if there is a required minimum number of players in particular formations, as well. Just making sure, because I don’t want to lose a training session.
Strikers - 1 to 3
PM - 2 to 5
Defenders - 2-5
I think.
PS You are safer replying with what you are think, and people will answer whether it is legal.

I am planning on playing 2 DEF, 5 MID and 3 ATT.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Jon is correct.
Hogweed: What you want to do is legal. I'll be curious to see how it looks. I've been told I'm 'crazy' for only using 3 defenders.
Sounds stupid on face value, but you're a successful manager so let me know when you actually use it, I wanna see :)

I am curious myself. I have to adjust to new engine changes otherwise I’ll get cooked.
It is not as crazy as it sounds, though. My 2 defenders will be labeled as MIDs and they are all going to play in line a la Vondocha. Check out my next Cup game for details)))).

Hopefully they have midfield type skills, or that could be rather counterproductive.
I played most of last season with a 2-5-3 match order. My primary formation is basically a 4-3-3, and I was training tech, so the two WBs got MID orders. I tried playing with the more forward of my CDs as a MID order, and I got burned (he tried to dribble too much). Seems to work fine with WB's, though, especially if you play with 2 CD's.
I can totally see it working with the right players in the spots. That's a nice thing about this game.
Because players use most of their skills (i.e. they all pretty much matter) players aren't necessarily pigeon holed into one position.
Last night I played a normal wing player at center mid (and vice versa) and it worked out reasonably well.
