Me and a mentee were discussing this and I really did not have an answer. It seems that if your team goes up big early, they will stop trying to score. In his example match, he was up 4-0 before half time but the game ends at 4-1. I have had many similar games where I jump out to a 3 or 4 goal lead and then have a hard time scoring in the second half. In one such match, I was up 4-0 in minute 20 but only score 1 more goal in the remaining 70 minutes.

So does that mean that our teams "pull back in the defensive zone" as in Hattrick?

I don't think so. What's the strikers' stamina like? Most of my goals seem to be scored in the final 20 minutes or so.

Definitely not.

My team score roughly the same amount each half. It's possible it may seem that you aren't scoring as many if your stamina is worse than your opponent as that can level the playing field a bit.

My strikers have problem to score during first 20-30 minutes :)

for what its worth, I definitely feel like there is some sort of blowout protection. I seem to hit a remarkable amount of goalposts when I'm up by 4+.

Still, there are matches like benmor's 17-2 whipping so I guess it's just bad luck.

Also, in my C league season, despite completely dominating competition and scoring 4 goals in the first half, somehow I'd magically only get one goal in the second half despite 5 breakaways.

Its definitely not a stamina issue for my players. I prioritized it early on more then my mentor would have liked me to.

If that was the case than Polish NT would not blowout everyone in the world.

well, maybe the scoring damper was only put on my team.

I just saw it way too often, especially the C league season (every week, basically) to not believe, at least then, there was something to it.

My entire team is formidable stamina. And maybe I am just paranoid about it now that my mentee asked me. I do recall a lot of games where I jump out to large leads and then fizzle out.

Oh well, just wanted to see what other folks thought. The Polish nats team would seem to invalidate the theory. And so would my round 1 cup match.

I'm glad that my team is so important that you follow our memorable moments.

As for hitting a lot of goalposts, haven't you mentioned that your strikers only have solid striking?

Actually, that's not true.

Although in that C league season..sure.

That being said, they seemed to have little difficulty putting 4-5 goals up in the first 45 minutes...

Continue looking like a buffoon though with your epic losses and continual screwups in league play.

It's what you do best.

Are you still holding a grudge because I mocked you and you won't stand for that?
