Subject: This is complete crap.

What happened to Sokker is like a restaurant losing power. It isn't the restaurant's fault, and the fact that some of the patrons may have gotten their long-standing reservations canceled is an unavoidable outcome.

Jon you are the king of analogies!
2007-04-24 19:15:59
Agreed (this time anyway ;)).

This is an honest question, I really don't know anything about how servers and such work: if transfer times could be moved back, why not match times for the few countries affected?
2007-04-24 19:53:29
matches could be run at another time...

Here's the thing, a lot of the matches were run before the connectivity went down.

I guess the devs just thought that since the server went down well through almost all countries being run, it wasn't appropriate to (re)run (either just countries that ran after the full collapse of connectivity or whatever you wanna draw the line at...

Btw, there are people still not able to connect because they're trying online.sokker.org and that's not working (for me at least), so shoudl they have decided to run them today? Tomorrow? What abotu cup? What about players injured +9 if it was run tomorrow, they'd be available for the cup?

You don't have to be online to run the matches, you just need to have done your orders beforehand. So this only adversely affected people who didn't do that before friday at whatever time it went down (or if you weren't able to connect) or peopel who had players ending just around the time with difficulties connecting (before the deadline was extended).

At the end of the day, it would have been easy to run the script for the devs (they had to do training, etc anyway manually), but they make the decision they think is best for everyoen as a whole - no decision in an unfortunate situation like this would please all users.

my orders are already set for the week =)

I guess I have been burned by this kind of thing too many other places, so I am overly cautious. But, I routinely set orders at least a week out (on every game I play) with the framework of what I want to try. Then as the match gets closer I often do some tweaking (usually ends up making things worse, but thats beside the point).

For example, here I have my friendly Cup match for Wednesday locked in, as well as the Sunday league match AND the next week friendly cup match. On HT I have my Wednesday Cup match as well as the next 3 weeks worth of League matches. Of course those can be altered by injuries, or any other scouting I do along the way, BUT in the event of something bizarre (like server or ISP issues), I am not going to get caught with my pants down.

"What happened to Sokker is like a restaurant losing power. It isn't the restaurant's fault, and the fact that some of the patrons may have gotten their long-standing reservations canceled is an unavoidable outcome."

Not really. A restaurant in that situation could offer to move the reservations back and make accomodations for the inconvenience to their customers. In this case, matches could have been moved back as well.

Still, I've said my piece. I think Sokker mishandled this thing and, unfortunately, my club was harmed. All I can do is try to win out and hope I can still promote at the end of the season. But maybe, just maybe, by raising the issue, Sokker will handle the next unforeseen fiasco a little better from the standpoint of their customers. That's the point.

Complete crap is that I set my line up way ahead but lost anyways but that s a different story. *lol* but I had like 3-4 injured midfielder s too.

Sokker.org is a game I like to play. I bought supporter because I really think the devs and people behind sokker.org are putting out a decent product. I'm not real bent on the outage. crap happens and it's not like supporter is awfully expensive. With all the problems i've (we've) experienced I still haven't regretted paying. Nothing has been a real deal breaker and sokker.org is getting more fun as time goes by.

That being said.

I understand people's anger at the situation. It's almost like the restaurant analogy but not quite. It's like a McDonald's drive thru where you pay and they tell you to move up and we'll bring your food to you. Then the fryer goes out and you can't get your french fries. They give you your food and say, sorry about your fries, we'll have them next week.

At first you're pissed you paid for fries and you didn't get them, but after a while when they have fries again, you forget the whole thing.

what the hell you doing in "C"?

and to stay on topic.... I wanna watch my UPSET! :)

I tried to grow too fast and i'm stuck in a negative cash flow and to make it worse I'm trying to stay afloat until I can generate enough cash in match attendance to level my costs.

I love the watching matches too. i hope itgets fixed soon.
