Subject: USA Cup

Which is why you ran your first team out against KY, and why we wouldn't have heard the end of it if you'd actually won. Because it doesn't matter.

But I'd love for you to step up to the big boys' table of A league, where I'll talk my smack while slapping you about in league play.

I played my full B team that week in league because it just happened to coincide with the one horrible CPU team we have. Coincidentally, KY Cats was rather lucky in my opinion in that matchup. He got 3 goals gift wrapped for him (2 PKs, another ridiculous, low % goal). I actually thought I managed it well - but I simply don't have the horses to match up with a ML team. Unfortunately, knowing how to beat a team and having the talent on field to do it are sometimes two different things.

He'd have still won that match 3-0 or 3-1 regardless of lucky calls/goals. There was no way I was winning that match anyway. No way. I was happy though, overall with the way my team played, knowing my talent level and fiscal limitations compared to his.

Any other week it wouldn't have happened. MY B team would've been in. Next time research these things before you run your mouth. I guess there's always a first time.

I'd work on getting your dopey ass get out of qualification zone, rather then constantly badgering me and looking like the village buffoon. Because if it doesn't and you pull my team, you'll be BACK in B league - after a pathetic 4 season run in A.

If you managed half as well as you yapped, you'd have at least two A league titles by now.

If I don't draw you in a qualifier, I'd be happy to play my a teamers against you in a season-end friendly. I'd love to hear your excuses for losing, actually.

And I did research the playing your a teamers in cup, because I read your post in your league forum about it. I just thought it was amusing that you would have been risking your a teamers in such a "meaningless" match.

.....still arguing......nice.

He'll be there soon enough.... :)

Hey lets get this topic back on topic!

And benmor, your assertion that no one cares about the cup isn't correct. At the point about last week, quite a few teams cared about the cup. There were more A-teams played than B-teams.

I personally gave up training on 2 players who kinda could have used some Pace training. KY bought 3 players specifically for our match.

Hrmmm... my assertion has never been that no one cares about the cup. As a matter of fact, that's the opposite of my assertion.

Ahh, i took your comment below out of context:

Nobody cares about the US cup.

It's the USA's only friendly league with two playoff stages that everyone really wants to win.

I guess that was solely sarcastic.

Anyway, here it is to both benmor and islander.

I'm tired of getting emailed complaints from other about the bickering.

Lets try this, start a forum in either of your leagues where you two can fight all you want, and try to keep it to a minimum in other forums, eh?

Or you could just give eachother big hugs and be friends. LETS WATCH BARNEY!

Yeah, it was sarcastic.

I think your cup run is great, I've said all along I think that deep cup runs are a managerial accomplishment.

As for islander, I've issued my challenge. If he plays me and beats me, I'll definitely acknowledge his superior managerial acumen.

Someone has complained to you about the ongoing Ben/Islander argument? That's pretty weak. If they don't want to read the arguments, they can always skip them. Personally, I've been getting a kick out of it.
2007-04-26 15:51:07
me too, but it's been about 5 people that complained.

KY bought 3 players specifically for our match.

Well, let's not get carried away here. I bought those players hoping to beat you, but more so to move up a few positions in the Major League and make it a little more competitive.

Any predictions?

Gonna be 2 close games i think...

Next round:
Babes - Ravens
Quietus FC - Wisconsin Enforcers

I gotta say Babes (to stay on Guac's good side) and Wisconsin for sure... Quietus barely beat my trainee defense 3 rounds ago, and my pride cannot let me pick him. Or did you want honest, unbiased predictions?
2007-05-02 19:19:55
Honest/unbiased of course :)
2007-05-02 19:21:18
Oh sorry, I got nothing ;)
