Lets develop a welcome email for new USA teams

Here's a shot at it...

---

Welcome to Sokker!! I hope you find this game as fun to play as I do.

It is hard to get started (especially if you're new to sports sims) so i urge you to read a bit and stick with it, the game only gets better as you understand more. Some suggested readings include the Rules (there's a LOT of information in there - it's more of a guide, actually), the Newbie Forum (search on the forum page for Newbie), and the "Useful Threads Topic" (you'll find that on Sokker USA). If you want a mentor, contact Guacamole and he'll hook you up with an experienced user.

Some advice:
- Don't underestimate the importance of training here. Wait till you understand the game a bit before you decide who to sell and buy, and what coaches to get (there's advice there in those threads and forums i mentioned).
- Learn the tactic editor at some point - the visual game display is the coolest thing about Sokker, and you control your players by their tactics (again, there are threads about creating tactics)
- Don't underestimate the importance of having well rounded skills. All of the skills blend together based on the player's position. Obviously some are more important than others for each position, but if you understand what they do based on the rules/guide, they make common sense mostly what is needed most where.

Have fun and don't hesitate to ask for help, especially in the Newbie forum!

p.s. This is a standard welcome message to be helpful - we have a template on the forum. So if you get this from more than one person it's because a number of us wrote this together to be informative AND welcoming. :)

Go ahead and critique that message i posted. If you edit it, show the new/changed part in bold so i can merge revisions.

I sent that message to the five above, btw. Perhaps we should say "welcomed" with the players names when we welcome someone so we don't need to do the P.S. part...

If you're not a mentor and get asked questions after you send this welcome message, plz feel free to answer the easy ones, but don't get too in depth with planning/reviewing players/etc plz.

Too long :/
2007-06-12 22:30:14
I agree

For advice why not just a quick line as to where to find help?
2007-06-12 22:32:37
can you create a newbie usa forum?
2007-06-13 00:34:27
I can't, my sponsor forum is used for mentors USA.

I'd suggest the general newbie forum is better anyway.
