i train strikers and bought this guy at the end of last week (before the madness)... and i am wondering if i got a good deal.... remember i'm a single season vet of the C League and not looking for much...

Ursal Grond, age: 19
wage: 1 100 $
country: Schweiz
excellent form

unsatisfactory stamina, tragic keeper
good pace, average defender
hopeless technique, good playmaker
hopeless passing, very good striker

what would have been a decent bid on him... and if i train him up a level or two is it worth it to me...?

i'm trying to kill time and avoid the insane bidding going on right now...

the tech on him is BRUTAL.

This is why he cost only 40k.

After a full season of tech training he'll be worth a good bit more then that though. The tech is going to be painful in the meantime though, I would think.

With no technique or passing, and moderate pace, you're not going to increase his sale value very much if you just train strikers.

You didn't really get ripped off, but I wouldn't call it a good deal.

would he be better to resale now when everyone has money?

i'm really unlikely to train his tech... i train strk and can train pace(asst has unearthly), but would rather train him up a level or two in striker and sell him while he is still young enough to get some tech training somewhere else...

bad idea huh...

The tech isn't bad if you're just relying on through balls. The PM would help with decisionmaking and routes.
2007-07-03 21:25:21
right, you can sacrifice pace or tech, but not both.

His PM is good and his defense is not bad.

a level or two wouldn't be horrible. What you don't want to do is train someone to become a "mutant" - ie very high in some of the required skills but low in one that's absolutely required for his position...

Ie a striker without tech or pace... a defender without pace... a mid without passing... At a young age, getting all but one stat to a nice level (ie excellent) is doable, but won't net you that much as the market becomes only people who are looking to train that...

I'd STRONGLY suggest you look instead for players with nice pace and tech, but low striker. You'll get a MUCH bigger bang for your buck that way.

yeah, but i can't afford player with good levels of pace and tech... not in my current noob financial situation... those guys are the perfect shell for making any position... i figured it fit better into a quick strike forward... a catch and shoot guy... and since he's still kinda young he'd have another season for someone to tech him up and bit if i made him a seriously effective shooter...

i'm trying to deal with the handicap that the starting finances put you under... slowly but surely i guess

besides this guy is good enough as it to start for me right now up front.... so he gets training in cup plus extra training in friendlies...

His low tech will give you nightmares, he's not good enough to start, even in C-League.

If you're not training tech, sell him now while the market is crazy. That's what I would do.

Option B

Look for trainees with high tech, and train half seasons of pace and striker.
2007-07-03 22:41:01
i think it was a good buy, regardless if u train tech this season or next, i would do tech this season though, that way he will be more usefull to u next season
2007-07-03 22:42:38
I train strikers, and every season I train striker the first half, and either tech or pace in the second half.

lakay i think you forget how terrible "the C" can be brother... this guy was my center forward last year and led the league in goals... and was only a high 20's guy statistically...

Sergiusz Opałacz , age 30
value: 124 500 $, wage: 2 125 $
weak form
bookings:

formidable stamina, tragic keeper
poor pace, adequate defender
unsatisfactory technique, good pm
average passing, very good striker

and to me the 18yo has just as good qualities for what i have him up there for... catch and shoot...

i'm just asking if i train him up is he worth a 40k investment...?

i'm tired of being poor

I started in B-League and never saw C-league action so you are right.

A lot of opportunities are lost with a fumbling striker, kepp that in mind when you get to B-league
