Subject: Cup Round 1

2007-07-26 16:35:53
I'm going to do the same thing I did last Cup match - complete B team, with orders to bring in my a-team keeper if I go up by 1 goal or down by 2 goals, and orders to bring in my #1 striker if I go down 2. I may flip around the formation a bit, just to keep you honest.

keep me honest? blah, I suck at tactics :)

when you use all starters you can't call your line up a hybrid.

wow...i gotta face the best kepper in the US next week..that sucks

dagwood: I was using 3 starting midfielders, and 2 were playing out of their normal position. One of those two wasn't a starter last season. He's 19.

The only starting midfielder in his proper position per the starting lineup was Ona.

I actually WANTED to play my starters (proper), but even training stamina for one week, that was the best lineup I could put out on the field due to injury and cards. I was afraid I'd lose anyway because of it.

So when I say hybrid, it wasn't just the players. I also played a 4-4-2 which I've never done before. Just some modest nuisances here and there.

hey all I know is that you had 10 starters the same as your league game. plus the defender you just purchased.

It was 10 including the new guy - that was pretty fortuitious I must say. I always play my starting defenders and strikers(who are on a rotation anyway game in and out).

I'm not discounting my lineup. I played this one match to win because of the walkover opportunity next week. I figured I was getting my butt kicked next week one way or the other but figured for the extra 50k cash it'd be worth it. My strikers need stamina anyway as I slowly migrate from a 4 man rotation per game towards a 3 man and eventually a 2 starter by next season.

But my midfield is my strongest area, and it was an absolute hodge podge for this match due to external circumstances. Two were out, two more were playing in positions that make them less effective then normal..

That's all I was saying. I couldnt have put a better lineup out that night, but it still wasn't my normal lineup. Positional lassignments for my midfield mean a lot to my tactics.

Play your b-team please. I want to keep the score down. My fans might get aggravated by a 25 goal loss.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!! Someone just shoot the gimp and put him out of his misery!

Somehow I'll be lucky to win by 1.

Actually, a side benefit of thee Cup games is so far I've managed to dodge 2 red cards because guys miss the Cup match, not the following league match.

See the Cup does have a point!

This benefit is offset by the risk of getting a 3rd cummulative yellow or a red card in the cup.

true Lakay. I guess it's worked out for me so far. It actually matters less to me now, I don't have a really difficult opponent in league for about 7 or 8 weeks now.
2007-07-26 21:20:34
how much do cup winners recieve anyways?
2007-07-26 22:13:39
$250k + partial match proceeds.
2007-07-26 23:26:27
$250K only?..thats lame, i thought it'd be at least $500k...but still its a prestigious trophy to win
