Please make sure you have your password different from your username (and not just your username + the number 1 or something silly like that).
There's been a bit of a rash of people hacking user accounts by trying to log in as them with just username as the username and password (ie guacamole/guacamole or guacamole/guacamole1)
The hacker has been changing user name, often we are able to stop him or her before they are too harmful (ie remove players from tlist, etc), but if a transfer is completed, or if arena is built, or other things happen that admins can't undo, there's nothing we can do about it...
Follow standard password security and you'll be fine.
If you notice someone trying to hack your account (bunch of invalid login attempts), email admins@sokker.org immediately or speak with a staff member (admin preferably, since we can look into the issue) who is online.

how do you tell the number of illegal logins on your account at a given time?

Yes.
If I were to see 2-3 failed attempts, I would be suspicious.
