Subject: PM and passing in forwards...

My 3 B team strikers right now all have at least adequate PM and good passing. I decided a while back that I wasn't going to train anymore strikers without PM, because in my experience they make better decisions (take better lines, etc.). So I had three youths come out at the midpoint that fit what I was looking for and I kept them.

They don't have the defense that I would like, but I have actually been pleasantly suprised with their cup play so far. I have an A team striker with very good passing that will never pass the ball, even when he's got a bad angle, but so far the B teamers are passing when they need to pass, resulting in some interesting chances.

Anyone else looking for more than tech and pace in their strikers or striker trainees?

I have a striker with decent PM/passing/Defense. I think it helps a lot.

XXXX pace,
XXXX technique,
excellent passing,

I think every field player in Sokker can use most skills.

I'd never train a striker to excellent in passing, I'd much rather (in gaspar's case) have the excellent PM and adequate passing instead.

I doubt Billy trained him to excellent in passing.

Me neither. There were some random pops in there.

true, didnt mean to imply he did. Just saying I wouldn't train him in passing.

Correct, I have never trained PM, passing, or defending before. I've been a pace/tech/striker trainer since getting my team.

dont much care about PM+Passing on my strikers as a general rule, but dont mind it as an extra. I aim to get defending on my darlings though, many a goal has been scored from that =]

PM and Passing for strikers can be usefull for right and/or left strikers in a 3:4:3 formation.

PM:

- Quicker decisions to run with the ball or shoot. a fast striker with low PM is slowed down by his decision time to run with the ball.

- High PM also help with quicker reaction in the box, on crosses, set pieces and throw ins.

(Solid PM is plenty)

Passing:

Once a striker decides to pass, the accuracy and quality of the pass is determined by the level of passing skill.

(Excellent is nice to have)

Defense: is nice to have

Striker, Pace and tech are by far the most important skills.
