with his talent unknown I can't drop more than 4 mill on him :/
2011-08-20 02:12:28
yeah,

Nevermind the fact that he has Maximum skill points for his age
2011-08-20 02:21:10
I mean that's really nice but without talent by the time he reaches 19-20 he'll be blown out of the water by other players and won't be worth half the investment.

If he does have the talent, then he'll be div/div/div or greater when he reaches the NT :)
2011-08-20 02:43:59
Really??? Can't you pull the trigger?
2011-08-20 03:15:07
I'll take a shot at him. I'll risk the unknown talent, and spending fake money on a simulation game.
2011-08-20 04:04:47
can I have 4 million?
2011-08-20 04:41:34
With greater risk comes greater reward
2011-08-20 07:19:14
I just couldn't bare to see my bank drop below 30 mil again

Tab Horn is an excellent youth pull. However without knowing his talent it is VERY risky to spend 4MIL on him.
I pulled Preston Singer when he was 17 during week 12. With Horn being 16 and in week 8 he will get 20 weeks more training than Singer. Singer was 5 values higher in Pace, Tech, and Striker than Horn is now. IF Horn has decent talent, he should be able to get to the values of Singer by the time/age Singer was pulled. However Singer was 10 values higher in passing and defending. Not sure if Horn would make that up.
So unless Horn's talent is in the 3.5 range I do not think he will ever be as talented as Singer. And the right now I am not sure if I could sell Singer for over 8 Million.

That is my reasoning for NOT bidding on this guy at these prices.

I completely agree with this.

The biggest reason that I would be interested in knowing his talent is more for his lack of other skills. Tragic passing, tragic pm, those are skills you really don't want to focus on and rather should just pop on their own for the most part assuming he has low talent. Without that low talent though, those skills will pop only a few times and training will need to be devoted to those for too long (to at least get them up to some sort of standard) and he will lose out in the long run.

As for Singer, I think you're right about the 8 million, simply because of his secondaries though. If his defender/pm was a little higher right now (or striker of course) I think he would sell 8 mill easy

I wouldn't pay that much for him either, but playing devil's advocate:

If he's not talented you'll find out relatively quickly, before the end of this season. At that point, you could sell him and at worst take a small loss, not more than .5 mil, and that's really worst case scenario. Even if his talent is 6 which is the worst it can be I think, he'll still look like a fine 17yr old if you train him for a season and still be worth 3-4m at least.

If he is talented he will make up more than 5 points in primaries in 20 weeks, the reason some 16yr olds go for such high prices is because they train so quickly at that age.

I love secondaries in strikers, but some players hardly pay any attention to them, so there's that to consider when it comes to resale value. Even without top talent, he will almost certainly be 3x excellent as a late 17 or young 18yr old and that type of prospect usually goes for a lot more than 4m. (Whether it's worth putting up 4m for a return of 5m in a season or more is an interesting question though.)

If you keep him long term and if he's talented, he'll end up 3x divine with some training time left, after that you can focus on secondaries or train them along the way and still get to 3x divine. So if he's got talent you will have a top top player when all is said and done, should be one of the best strikers anywhere at age 26 or 27.

So there is a risk but it's not that high, it's not like he's going to be worthless if you find out he's got 6 talent, and the potential reward is very high.

6 is not the worst it can be, I've seen talent as bad as 20 in the old system.

Unless your figuring from the pop he already had, is that what your trying to say?

edit: way to much if he doesn't have talent and not much if he does talk.
