maybe.

or maybe they just made a sloppy coding mistake.

we know the story we'll get.

That description of the issue was the description that one of the admins gave in the Bugs/Ideas forum some time ago. I prefer to take them at their word.

what a great game you've introduced me to. ;)

LOL, as if Trophymanager hasn't had their own black eyes...but I hear your tone ;)

I think this is the first rollback issue I've seen of this sort in the one year I've been here.

I'm actually very surprised that this situation exists. A simple rollback of the server to the latest backup before the errant matches began would have sufficed.

Then you add 24 hours to every single transfer current on the market.

simple, really.

Not simple, actually.

You know, this just demonstrates that everything is "simple" to the man that doesn't have to do the job.

funny, the hockey sim I'm a management team member of has done it with zero difficulty. Sure, people who won are PO'd that matches are re-run due to bugs/errors.

I'm not criticizing the administration here for that. just their inability to clean up their own mess.

If it were my job, I'd be better prepared for this.

it's not like this is the first match day failure/crash in the history of sokker. Come on.

If it were, it'd be different. I'd be willing to give them a pass then on the promise that it didnt happen again.

They appear to be cleaning up the "mess." You don't seem to be thinking your proposals through very clearly.

I've been playing for a while, and this is the first failure of this type. Are the devs supposed to have contingencies for every failure, no matter how unlikely?
2007-08-06 00:42:27
how much is it to ask that a full backup take place before the first matches run on game days?

Or in the case of this error, if you want to say the first matches never ran, simply running the backup at 00:00 Sunday.

If you restored from the last backup prior to this error, what about players bought in the interim?
2007-08-06 00:47:44
trophymanager had one major issue, they had to use a backup from 24 hours earlier... it caused an uproar, mostly from the guys that had spent hours on the transfer market, but at least teams weren't wrongly forced to play short players that they should have been able to play.

If you restored from the last backup prior to this error, what about players bought in the interim?

They go back on the market, with their deadlines extended 24 hours.
