Do you know more details about how penalty kicks are calculated? I'm just asking because I had a match a couple of weeks ago, where I had 3 penalty kicks ... and none (!) was converted, despite the fact that my striker is at least 2 level better than the keeper (and in comparable or better form).
Coming from real soccer, it would be plain wrong to apply the general "shooting on goal" logic to penalty kicks...

Well, I'm just trying to fully reconcile how a pitiful goalkeeper 2-3 levels below my strikers in keepeing skill could stop every single shot I put on him a few weeks ago.
Scoring has been an issue for my team both seasons in B2 so far, so I decided to take care of it this season (and next via crosstraining).

My guess is that you've been focusing too much on striking and not enough on the so called "secondary" skills. A divine striker who can't get into position is worthless. It also depends, of course, on how your tactic is set up. One of the main reasons I'm moving towards strikers with more PM and passing is because my outside strikers function as secondary wingers.

Actually, it's just not having enough money to buy legitimate strikers. I bought some decent slower youth when I trained pace last season, and after I got a couple of good striking gen pops I decided that with some short term focused striking training I could get that to a good enough level.
Next season I'll train tech, 8 mid spots and 2 strikers. They'll be good for a while then, I'll get back to full on mid specific training.
I just feel that strikers market price wise are just always in demand, and I'm always running with modest amounts of money. No golden goose juniors yet.

I definitely think you have to train players that aren't in your "training area" if you want specific types of players. I can never find the right mids and defenders, but since I train pace and tech in the second part of alternating seasons, it helps. Of course it's easier when you train strikers, because when training tech, for instance, 5 of 6 of my "true" trainees can be trained in the friendly.
my personal pain is the tech on my strikers. excellent and very good at the moment.
They can't catch cross passes to save the team.

I'll be selling Josef Kniaz on Thursday morning. Why don't you buy him?
Be glad to buy him as my two top strikers are injured and he would fit nicely.
Now .. where can I find the 2 or 3 M it will cost?

Yeah, this will be my first "big sale." I'm definitely looking forward to it.
Yeah, but he was on my original team, and none of his skills were of the "wow" variety.
Of course, by career numbers, Leffew is a better goalscorer.

"I just saw Goldblum's skill set and the guy is second in the standings for goals scored in the ML."
Might I add that it is a distant second ;)

Referring to the first page here, but Kaz Taylor is an excellent youth from my own academy(literally solid but still) came out as a 16 year old, talented, good keeper solid pace. He is going to be one of the best goalies in the world and his owner got him for a very good deal =]
As for strikers shots on goal, even the best striking strikers find it hard to get a 33% goal:shot percentage, but i generally place the importance of striker/tech/pace at 1:1:1.
Penalties relies a lot on form i reckon.

Idk if i'd go THAT far with it.
When you're a tactics maniac like me, you can easily find ways to compensate for stuff. If a guy has good tech then putting him in a 1on1 situation would be good. If his pace is good then keep him away from the defenders, maybe play an offsides run a lot with him. Here is why i don't see it being 1/1/1
You can have a tech/striker forward
You can have a pace/striker forward
but can you really have a pace/tech forward? maybe....but not to score with...in which case one of the other ones would be better
it just doesn't make enough sense.

I actually train strikers, and I put the importance at around .5/1/1. I'd rather have lots of pace and tech and less striker. Perhaps your priorities are resulting in the issue you talk about in the "shots" thread.
