It has to be B. Player selection is as important as the right tactic, as in my statement, sometimes the best players will not all fit into an appropriate tactic. Bit of a balancing act though, as you would fit the players of A into B as best as possible.
Question i'm asking all the candidates, and i'm going to decide between the two i favor based on the answer to this (not saying who the 2 are, however)...
Please tell us (with match link plz for us lazy people) the game that you're the most proud of, from a tactical standpoint. This can be due to a tactic that you felt helped you beat a weaker team or (in mr_g's case as he's not often playing weaker teams anymore) one in which you exploited a perceived weakness in the opponent.
Describe what you saw and how you exploited it.

Can I just check - are there any restrictions on what I can choose (could I pick a friendly, cup game or even an NT game)?
any games that you managed.
If it's a friendly tho, plz make it one with both teams trying with a "sane" tactic.

Well, the best example of one of my commonly used tactics being put to use would be in this match here. Admittedly this is an 8-0 win, but this is an 8-0 win against the team that finished second in the premier league. It very much countered the way forestman plays - stopped him in the middle where he can hurt you, and out flanked him by going out wide which he was able to do very little about.
yes, but he's your bitch. what about a challenge? :)
*smiles at forestman when someone points out this post to him*
Didn't you have any tough NT matches or friendlies? you'll face better opponents with < 350 USA teams providing talent...

if you are manually typing his name there is an underscore between mr and gibbage
So you cannot vote for mr gibbage, but you may vote for mr_gibbage.
Glad to help baby.

It won't let me vote for mr gibbage
Great programming by greg I'd say.

The whole underlining of names makes things look quite bizarre. q and g look the same which is fairly annoying. Unless you have the text really big, then you can see all the things there properly.

1 - What types of conditional orders would you regularly set for NT matches?
2 - Will there be any pregame announcements or postgame analysis posted on our forums?
3 - Will you have a freekick taker set, and if so how would you rank the skills necessary for the freekick taker?

1. Subs are one of the things I would certainly use. Although I wouldn't simply replace players for similar ones, I'd use more "super sub" type players - ones with high pace and/or technique which benefit from the opponent being tired.
If there was one key player in a tactic (typically a player somewhere in the middle of the park) and free conditions after subs, I'd set a red card event to ensure that someone would always be in that area of the pitch.
2. When I was the England NT manager, I followed a program of making a thread maybe 1-2 days or on the day just before the match, if it was a friendly I might post the lineup and after I would take about what went wrong / went right. I'd stick to that scheme. Maybe run contests as well for in between periods.
3. Definitely, and I'd always opt for the highest passer in the best form, and if players were similar, use striker skill to separate them. I tend to use a def mid or someone in the central of midfield to take free kicks. I've not had many direct goals like this, but free kicks can be very good for assists if the ball ends up near a striker and they knock it in, which can happen quite a lot.

Dredging back to NT games, this one here was probably my favourite result. Nederland have always had more stars in their side and Shadowman has always been quite useful on the tactic side of things.
It had to be a fairly defensive tactic (this was a "no caps" game where only uncapped players, other than the GK could be used). Arguably being that defensive was dull and boring, but caught them out on the break and they couldn't get the goal to make the result go their way. Dull and boring can be effective sometimes, especially when it comes to playing sides who just can outclass you over the pitch.

I have several questions:
1) We have a program in place to develop younger NT players. Would you make sure that owners of these players got "caps" for their players like Lakay did (e.g. in unwinnable games)?
2) Would you make the players on the team bus eat British food? It really is indigestible junk, you know, and would make them moody when they returned to their regular teams.
