Sorry, i dont think you answered it properly here (better re-word it before i ask the other candidates =] )

the question was..

Say you come up against a team that is of similar strength to the USA (Argentina for this example), would you be tending towards..

(a) keeping the USA's strongest players for the match, or would you...

(b) play players that reduce USA's past strengths, but exploit the weaknesses of Argentina?

An a or b answer with a short/long explanation would be sweet. Thanks!

Also, if you wish to abuse me at any point for asking questions for a foreign country NT, my GB is wide open =p

Okay I'll try and keep it strictly to A or B

I use the saying a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush

This means be satisfied with what you have instead of risking it all for something you more you may not have.

Thus

I would choose A. It's not worth risking a world cup match by taking out my stronger players for weaker ones. I would rather we play strong vs strong than weak vs weak.

The place where I may choose B would be up against a much stronger team where I know we'd have no chance of winning unless we exploited their weaknesses. Then it'd be a chance worth taking.

But for of equal strength, I would keep my stronger lineup and maneuver them around in hopes of finding even a tiny weakness

Question i'm asking all the candidates, and i'm going to decide between the two i favor based on the answer to this (not saying who the 2 are, however)...

Please tell us (with match link plz for us lazy people) the game that you're the most proud of, from a tactical standpoint. This can be due to a tactic that you felt helped you beat a weaker team or (in mr_g's case as he's not often playing weaker teams anymore) one in which you exploited a perceived weakness in the opponent.

Describe what you saw and how you exploited it.

Well due to my lack of games played, this is the best I could come up with

I'm speaking of the game I beat Heights FC 3-2

Going into the game is when I really got into tactics. I quickly noticed that he didn't change his lineup and so he had a stronger right forward than left.

To counter this I simply put my better defender on the left side and kept him close to the inner defender so no hole would be left open.

I also noticed how his defense was lacking some on the left side.

I did one of my favorite things to do, stacking forwards. By putting the two together, it creates many chances for quick steals and the 2v1 is always a nice option. The lead forward scored 2 goals and helped lead the team to vicrtory.

Bell ringing now so I have to leave but I'll give you more of my analysis later.

personally, i think that an nt coach should have the most experience as a coach out of the available candidates.

Part of that experience, to me, is you looking for yourself to find in the faq how to link matches :)

my problem is actually finding the matchid...

I can't find it anywhere...

All I can say is knowledge of knowing where to find a matchid has nothing to do with quality coaching...

A new game engine is coming soon and wingers will be effective again and technique will have a random factor. Since you'll be thrown directly into qualifiers I have the following questions:

In your opinion will the change work in favor or against the USA. Will you be able to adapt quickly?

For the technique factor I'd have to know the technique of our NT players.

If it's high and the random factor rewards high technique then yes of course it'd be helpful

If it's lower then I can easily work around it and not play such a technical game.

Now the main point brought up here (I believe) is the wingers becoming effective again.

I believe this will work wonders for the USA and personally I already kind of added it into my ideas.

If you go back and look at games the US has played, we play with 2 wide wings. With them being ineffective (or not as effective before) we were always weak there.

Teams That would just load the middle and make a direct attack had a much better chance and I feel that with the old system the USA overlooked the fact that maybe we should have pushed down the middle too.

However! Since the new system is coming out, we're already a step ahead with wingers. By having tactics set that already have wingers in positions that theoretically would be good with a good system, I believe I'll be able to adapt quickly and maybe even have an edge over the other teams :)
