For all of you interest in European Soccer, and that normally watched the UEFA CL on ESPN 2, Espn Deportes and Espn Classic, make sure you have the Fox Soccer channels.

This Season the UEFA CL is on Fox Soccer. This mean more games cover: for what i've seen in the tv guide they will run most of the games all week, when the CL starts.

Is Fox Soccer in HD?
2009-08-24 22:26:50
if i remember correctly the games on ESPN 2 were not in HD even if you were wathing them in ESPNHD channel

I don't think Fox Soccer has HD yet.

I think some were. The quality of picture was muuuuuch better than setanta, for instance.

i still think it is stupid for espn to not get those rights back to the champions league. they pick up epl games which is awesome but dissappointed they couldnt match FSC for the uefa.

They only picked some of the EPL, i think, and they only have 1 game a week, while Fox play as many as they can.

Quality wise i think ESPN were doing a better job, both on the journalistic side and picture wise, but I like the better coverage that i will get with FOX Soccer: 3 games live (one on FSC, one on one of the fox sport local channels, and one on the Fox Soccer in spanish), plus almost every other game on a later run. This season my DVR will be very busy.

On ESPN i had one game live on ESPN2 and it was always one of the British game, while if you could get ESPN Deportes you always had one of the Spanish team (Barca or Real). I'm a JUVE fan, i just hope that i finally get a chance to watch some Italian teams in the Champions League this season.

I don't have the Spanish Package, so for me UEFA CL on FOX is an improvement.

Ya, i agree, the coverage will definitely be better. But i still like to see soccer getting on the main channels so more people can watch and it can gain more interest.

I am sure people saw the Eduardo dive in the Arsenal game, and I think this is a problem and agree with this article.

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=671010&sec=uefachampionsleague&cc=5901

I think that they need to look at all instances and not just the big scale games. I don't think they will ever actually enforce anything, but I still have high hopes to clean the game up and play soccer.

Yeah - that dive was so obvious to EVERYONE. Even Wenger couldn't excuse it (he tried but his only answer was that eduardo wouldnt do that because hes too cool) If they can cut this out I think a lot of the pampered players who dive ten times a night will get less preference and we can actually see matches that are played and contested.

FYI. Directv shows several of the Champions League games on channels around 460-470. They show the games only once, midday, and otherwise these channels are not in use. You don't need their sports package or Setanta subscription to watch the games, although they seem to be coming from premium channels. One had setanta logo, another had spanish commentary. Some were in HD.

Setanta's having a free preview this weekend, might have something to do with that.
2009-09-19 22:02:19
Possibly, but directv webpages say something about 5 champions league per gameday, plus uefa euro league and spanish league. They seem to suggest it's for the duration of the CL group phase.

The games on Direct TV are still from Fox Soccer channel, Setanta or Fox Soccer Espanol.
The difference on Direct TV is that you can watch any games that are not show on those channels. Is like the NFL pass from Direct TV that let you watch every NFL game LIVE, no matter where you live.

I don't think Direct TV had This Option when the Champions League was on ESPN.

I'm struggling to switch my Provider to Direct TV, but i'm pretty Happy with my ATT U-Verse: they both have advantages that i like that the other doesn't have. Price wise they are the same......with the sport package.
