After much thought and introspection, I have decided that uniform requires typing too many letters for my limited intellect, so "kit" is more appropriate.

What does the word 'kit' mean in this application? Is it a collection of equipment? If it is, I think I have to go with kit.

'Uniform' implies that everyone wears the same thing. While in most sports this is true, in soccer the keeper usually wears something different.

But that doesn't mean you'll hear me saying 'kit' aloud anytime soon.

it's just the uniform. And yes, the keeper has a different uniform, but that doesn't mean the word uniform doesn't apply.
