THAT was one that irked me bad! I wanted US players to start fighting back but they didn't seem to do much about it. :(
Well- Beckham may have a chance to be the hero today- the fans would love it. Have to say...a nice game to watch.

Chelsea is owning the Galaxy in the second half.
yeah they are.....and were pretty much controlling 1st half too. I stepped out for 15 minutes- there's beckham
i think possesion on this game is very lopsided- Chelsea is pretty good though
chelsea controlled the whole game and if it wasnt for Abel Xavier they would of lost 3 or 4 nothing
I dunno about controlling the whole game...seemed reasonably balanced in the first half. Neither team dictated play much.
yeah but possession was 65-35 around midway through 1st half...I think. It was a pretty good matchup overall.
I did find myself thinking same as above- could have been a couple more chelsea goals.

When you consider this is spring training for Chelsea and the Galaxy are 3 games into their regular season,Chelsea was pretty dominant.
Very good point I wasn't aware of. I was impressed w/ Chelsea tonight.
With how much money Chelsea has spent to field this team you had better be impressed ,they're the NY Yankees of the Premiership!:)

exactly, they are literally an all star team, the best team in England.
I bet Manchester United would have something to say about that comment. Especially seeing how they won the Premiership last season and have re-tooled just as much as Chelsea for the upcoming season.
BTW, LA is about halfway (15 games) through their MLS season, and have one of the worst records in the league.
As for the game last night, LA had very few real chances, (one sticks out that LandyCakes couldn't put away) during the game. LA's defense, Xavier in particular, played well all night to keep it as close as it ended up being.

I'm admittedly not an expert of English soccer, but it seemed to me that since the American Malcolm glazer took over MU a few years ago, they took a step back to the competition - for whatever reason.
I could be wrong though.
I have to admit though, I'm getting mildly interest in soccer again. Look at that friendly last match. The referee virtually swallowed the whistle. Not much diving, and half the dives that occurred where laughed off by the official.
That's the kind of soccer I can get into. Not this pu**y stuff that was on global display in the World Cup.

Once everyone on the Galaxy is healthy particulary Beckham and Albright.....Franky Yallop will be able to put out a good lineup. The weakest point is there defense. With Albright and Xavier they will be left with 2 inexpiercend defenders so hopefully Yallop makes some trades to bring another good defender to LA.
The biggest concern supporters of ManU had when the Glazers bought them 2 years ago, was the fact that they had to go in debt to make the purchase.
They pointed to Leeds United (once a "Massive" Club in English Soccer) as an example of what can happen to a team who has too much debt on the books. Leeds were eventually demoted twice (2 levels below the Premiership) in about 4 yrs because of not being able to keep the quality players necessary to compete due to the overburdening debt.
These debts incurred by Leed's leadership, at the beginning of this decade has now seen the team fall on hard times, while the yahoos who made the decisions have long since run and hid without reprisal, but their loyal supporters are having to suffer the consequences.
