Subject: Beckham
Yeah, but those Americans, I doubt, play this game.
I readed in a newspaper today that NY Red Bulls offered U$254kk to Ronaldo (5y deal).

Okay, the fact Beckham goes from Spain to the USA is unusual and probably money-fueled, but he still is a great player and will probably be a great help to the LA Galaxy. :)
Not that I'm hating on the LA Galaxy, but come on its the LA GALAXY! =P

That's probably some insiders joke I couldn't possibly understand. :P
You said...
"Soccer's beauty is it takes virtually no equipment ot play. Which is why its the worlds game - anyone can afford it.
This is also exactly why its shunned by the US, I think."
I don't think that's the case at all...
Read this article, and I believe it hits the nail on the head - http://sports.yahoo.com/sow/news?slug=dw-beckham011107&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

so what their saying is that the MLS needs more flash and less skill.
bah.
bah.
No.
I think what the article is saying is that the sport of Soccer itself is not capable of producing the type of entertainment that Americans crave.

Exactly...
If the USA didn't have MLB, NFL and NBA... Soccer would most likely be one of the favorite sports for Americans... but as far as Entertainment Value/Number of Sports/Amount of Attention goes, Soccer just can't compete with the established sports that currently exist.

flash never leaves a lasting impression.
Less skill in the MLS? Is that possible? It's already what, a tier 4 league compared to the rest of the world?

exactly. indoor soccer was the closest they could come to it.
The only thing more boring then watching soccer live is nascar (the all left turn circuit).
I will say this though: due to the no commericla nature of it, I dont mind watching soccer on TV that much. Especially since I got a nice LCD HDTV. It makes even underwater basketweaving more interesting to watch

ok, what's so entertaining about a bunch of guys wearing tight pants throwing a lemon shaped ball around??
what's so entertaining about guys trying to hit a little ball with a stick?
what's so entertaining about guys wearing tanktops trying to throw a ball through a basket??
Soccer is just a bunch of guys running around afield trying to get a ball into a net.

You are preaching to the choir, my friend.
It's the mindless masses that can't appreciate the game. :P

There are always going to be people who find any one particular sport uninteresting, its just a matter of opinion. Its ignorant to just shout out a claim that one sport is better than another, because its just a personal preference. If you happen to have a preference, there is no need at all to compare it to another.
Your claims of ignorance are just as bad as my claims of what I prefer, IMO. :P
Let me rephrase;
the principle of voicing ones opinion isnt bad. Going about voicing your opinion by just bashing other peoples opinions/interests is not the way to go about doing so
