But what islander1 is saying, is that diving and acting like a little bitch when you get tackled is so apparent in soccer (which it is)... very rarely do players just suck it up, get up and continue the fight, they usually roll around first holding their ankle or calf as if someone just shot them.

You shouldn't train diving with your players then...
;-)

p.s. The man with the sunglasses Edgar Davids is going to Dallas.

By the way I don't know what you mean by diving?

PS take pride in the fact that no one on team USA is really known for diving- the opposite actually

mcbride is the best example; he takes a hard elbow to the brow against italy, hurrys off the field to get stitched up so he can start playing again as quick as possible. hes always played like that. most other players in the world would have milked it for several minutes, even after the card has been issued, and probably would have held/complained about their knee at the same time haha

islander, some of the stuff you say about skills needed to play the game is pretty ridiculous, but its a shame because i know a lot of people in the states would completely agree with you

One could argue that America's best athletes don't go into soccer...

Think about Michael Jordan... he was such a great athlete, regardless of the sport (except maybe baseball, since that sport takes unique talents) and he would have been great. If MJ would have gone into soccer instead of basketball, he could have very well been America's best player.

Youth today compete between basketball, football, baseball and soccer... with soccer usually being the short end of the stick.

If we could adopt some Soccer program in the states like how the RUssians and Chinese approach gymnastics, then I'm sure we'd be able to compete evenly on the world level. Lock them up at age 10 and have them dedicate their lives to soccer... thats essentially what happens everywhere else in the world, since there is VERY LITTLE competition to soccer.

Kermmy: Poor baby, can't handle actual facts?

Maybe if you had a clue, you'd speak more intelligently.

Since the end of the NHL lockout, diving has been nearly disabled due to diving penalties called on individuals. In fact, when enough complaints are lodged by opposing teams against a given player, the NHL publishes a report thats posted in EVERY locker room so that person is embarassed league wide.

Moreover, even in the PAST, when diving took place, about 1 in every 100 dives it caused a penalty shot. The other 99 it was a 2 minute minor.

Unlike in soccer, when these skirt forwards dive, it involves a direct kick from just yards outside the 18 yard box, if not a penalty shot converted what? 80% of the time?

Its not even remotely comparable.

Moreover, if you don't like my opinions so much, let's schedule a friendly in the offseason, so I can show you how little soccer i know by whooping your team's ass - even with you having a 7 month advantage in game time, and a 4 point team rating.

I'm not 100% sure if my friendly competition will have week 15 as an open week...but if it does, bring it mister high and mighty soccer fan. You're a pretty subpar manager for being in the game a year now.
It's actuqlly times like these I wish the US Open Cup was on another day, or didnt start in week 0.

I had to put off my #1 vs #2 C league team match with temo/team hahaha! last season. Fortunately though, I got him into my friendly league this season, and shut down and beat him 1-nil with my backups versus his starters.

Typical resort to name-calling.

Thanks for continually proving your closed mindedness and inability to have a civilized discussion.

You call me uncivilized, when you're crying about wanting to ignore me?

I didn't call you a name. Just a subpar manager who doesn't know jack of which he speaks.

Sorry in using your forum :)

I sincerely don't like him - he is getting old, there are some players much better on market, don't understand why they invested 250M in Beckham. With 250M you can make a new-good team. Just a big merchandise.
