Subject: [NT] Austria

Thanks. :)

I expected a few more panic kick-outs on the left side, since there weren't as many outlet options there (due to the loading). But I was surprised by the number of times Fichaud and Dehere chose to put the ball out instead of creating something.

I was impressed with Lindenberger. I think he won most every 50-50 ball he went up for - most against Fichaud. His slight knock was a bad break for Austria, as it surely robbed him of a step or two. Mahlich also stood out for me - he did a pretty good job marking Iginla.

Congrats on the win. Amado is certainly a keeper...ah I mean a winner.

thats funny, iirc that Fichaud pass in the 86th was a rare def - mid pass.

as I watched the game I was thinking that it was a textbook example of the biggest remaining problem with the ME, far, far, far too many def - att passes. it's just silly, and improbable and annoying

@seca and ganzengeile:

I think that I have seen an other game.. In my eyes Canada wasn`t the bether team. Surely, in the first half we needed a strong Preiner, but the shots came also from away.

There was 1 action that made me angry.. The foul from one of your defenders to Garstenauer! It should have been red card in my eyes because your man was the last defender... But there wasn`t even a yellow card.

I want to congratulate you to your win! In my eyes today a draw would have been the right result. But you lost last time very unhappy... So all in all the win is ok :)

I wish you the best for the other quali-matches!

In the match you watched were the shots 11-4 for Canada, nearly 3 to 1?

In the match you watched were shots on target 8 to 2? Were the shooting ratings "formidable" and "good"?

In the match you watched were 3 of Austria's 4 shots taken by midfielders? Two of them freekicks from distance?

In the match you watched how many of Canada's "far away shots" were closer then Marl's attempt? 6? 7? 8?

How many empty beer bottles were on your desk during the match you watched?

I'm going through some personal issues at the moment, and I'm really not in the mood to read your self-promotional garbage. Why post this junk in the opponents forum? Post your tripe in Sokker Austria. You may actually find a few homers there that agree with you. You won't find anyone else who watched the game who can say with a straight face that Austria was the better team.

In the game I watched Austria got it's arse kicked by a country that has twice fewer sokker users :)))

Austria II stats

Quite a dreadful day statistically. Omar and Lavrynenko were supposed to offer more creativity at the DM position, but neither passed the ball particularly well. Omar was lucky to avoid being sent off, taking 2 fouls after his early yellow.

Deja made a good point above about the pass attempts from defenders to strikers. This match was an exaggerated (in a bad way) example of the problem. The stats bear that out - specifically Dehere. He is our most creative defender in terms of passing and PM. He had 3 close options (O Lav, Iginla, and O'Hara) who were generally open. Yet time after time he launched bombs for Amado. 2 of 14 passing in the end. :S (The two that were completed were both rare attempts to O'Hara).

Should point out a good day for Amado statistically. Took shots from better spots, and had 75% on target.
