Part of the season wind-up is checking on our prospects. I've collated my data. Thought I'd present it and get some discussion on where the youth team is headed.

Some were wondering about trainees that may be available. This final list might be a good place to start.

In a lot of cases, I've just been "watching" these players - waiting for their value or mark to spike. Managers of these players are likely to be contacted in the new season (if they haven't been already) - and the player cost seems to automatically increase once the NT manager inquires. :P

If you have any additions to the "Radar", please add the name(s) (PID wouldn't hurt either) to the thread. :)

Interesting
As I can see we kinda short in defence?

I like what people call 'defensive midfielder' as defenders. Of course defenders need pace and defending, but technique and passing are important and playmaking may become more important with match engine changes (players with low playmaking are more likely to make really bad passing decisions)

Aye. We look a little thin at the back. Hopefully a few of these lads "spike", or some others climb out of the woodwork.

It's a good point made about defenders vs. defensive midfielders. With the senior team, who one can use where depends almost entirely upon the opponent. With the U21s, generally there is less depth and hence less flexibility.

If no other defenders emerge, it's probable (tho a little disappointing) that Verville would slide back and anchor the line.

I sent you the skills of Defoe Bauman (could be a midfielder with defence) and the Harvey (but I don't think he is good enough).

A higher level of tackling is needed at the U21 level. Gjini would need a season of tackling training before he'd be considered at that position. I suspect his best chance of helping the U21s is as a midfielder.

I received a couple of messages about requirements for the U21s. It's hard to post requirements (depends a lot on the particular group). But I can give some general guidelines.

Outfield players:
- excellent pace
- solid technique
- formidable-outstanding primary skill for strikers and defenders
- very good-excellent primary skills for midfielders (more primary skills)

If a player satisfies these conditions, they'll want consideration (if not selection). Weakness in one area can be compensated for by strength in another.

Despite the election being re-opened, based on the previous results I'm going to make the assumption I will be re-elected.

So I will probably start contacting the managers of the players listed in this thread soon. If you intend to try and pry one of them free before they appear on the NT radar screen, you'll need to do so shortly! :)

I've contacted a number of these managers now - not all. Expecting a fair bit of mail the next few days. :)

We lost FC Universitatea Cluj. :( I'd noticed the team had been renamed - but thought it was just that. Hadn't realized the team had been replaced - hadn't even noticed they were in jeopardy. Apologies. I should have seen that coming.

Means we lost 3 striker prospects. Not sure how good they were. This manager tended to train HT style. Still regretable.

Still getting some responses.

If you have a player on your roster who you think could help, please take the initiative and send me his data.

We are particularly thin on defense - formidable tackling with half-hearted secondaries looks like it may be enough to crack the starting 11.
