Well Goran06, you're in the same div. as me this season, and I just wish I had your problem! I would love to be disappointed about youths like Harvey or Langer!
I started SK in Nov 2005 and I have sold two youths for a total of $230k and kept none! For this, I've spent close to $100k/week so my total costs now exceed $5 M and I have set tomorrow (Feb 29 here) as my deadline to close out my youth school and fire my Y-coach. I figure I can buy a pretty good trainee each season for a million +$.
I don't know where I've gone wrong. I have a magical coach with 6 unearthly skill levels and an Incredible with 3 unearthlys. I move them back and forth depending on what I'm training, so worst I have with youths is Incred. The only reason I've kept going this long with the youth thing is the hope that I would get lucky and produce an Owen Hargreaves who would have to sign for Canada this time!
Btw, this is the best week I've had for months. Three youths graduated this week. They came out VG, Exc., and Formid. They're all up for sale as usual, deadline Sat, but the standard pattern is no bids, and then I shoot them at dawn!
Maybe I've just been real unlucky. Can anyone tell me if there's something I could or should have been doing different? If not, Bonavista becomes a team with no youth school but a bit more disposable income as of this weekend!
Appreciate any advice/any last minute salvage hints I can get!!

I can not give you real advice in your case, but I can tell you what I do. I check not only the skill level but most important the talent (the skills should be too low, say average) and because I keep the talented and young they tend to be OK in a few seasons (not great but OK).
I should mention that the juniors I kept over the years were:
Poor, over 30 weeks
Weak, over 25 weeks
Average, over 20 weeks
Adequate, over 15 weeks
Good, over 10 weeks
Not sure where I got this, prob. the old 'Sokker News'. Re Talent, if no pops in 7 weeks, blow him away.
Maybe I should have kept only Average+ ?.
Btw, I never saw a Solid in all the time I played :\

I agree that talent is the thing. I try to keep talented youth for training myself and if I buy a youth I look for a player who has good talent, vouched for by a reliable source. If you are not training any of your own youth then, I agree, you should end your youth squad. (The one good compelling reason to keep it would be for the benefit of team Canada if you do get that Owen Hargreaves)
Sokkers Canadian youth system provides Englishmen?
:)
:)
When I got Harvey and saw he is talented, after like 4 weeks I upgraded my youth coach from I think outstanding I have at that time to brilliant and wached him very closely. As soon as I upgraded he started to pop after 3 weeks and even Langer instead 5 his next pop was after 3.
About the cost of youths you are right it is costly but somehow it makes me proud if I can make a caliber of a player who can play for Canada NT. Harvey might be only the third one from my squad but still. Well sure I am dissapointed, Harvey is the first divine junior in Canada and it is a question if he is ever going to be able to play for Canada but the other thing he is going to be a starter for my squad in league games for sure.
Other thing, you sure can buy a pretty good trainee but how are you gonna be sure he is talented, ok you can request his talent from the team you are about to purchase him but I don't know if this is 100%. Also it takes more time by contacting all those managers and ask about talents. Some may not even know or you won't have an answer on time or the transfer is at the time you wont be online.
You sure know what is best for you, and in your case I would be dissapointed like you are and maybe would do the same thing.
All I know is that youths are random things so you newer know what you gonna get, and that random hits you the worst I guess.
Best of luck.

As NT manager I comb through people's rosters on a semi-regular basis. When I look at your roster, I usually assume you don't have a youth program. :P Hard to comprehend you've had such poor luck with it.
It doesn't take much for it to turn. Nturn pulled that 16 year old last season that was only ~ adequate ... and then sold him for over 2 million. :)
Hopefully your luck changes.
