Subject: World Cup 4 (Season 12)
seems doable to me... :)
It's feasible, but not very likely. Germany dominated the Fins yesterday, and only got a +2. Goals for Canada have been very difficult to come by the past few seasons. The changes to the ME haven't been great for our #1 weapon.

What is the best result for Canada in the World Cup on sokker?
In World Cup #3 (the last one) Slavko guided the team to the round of 16 - Canada's best finish. In World Cups 1 & 2 Canada finished 3rd in its group both times. If we don't break our current trend this weekend, we'll have our worst ever finish. :P

No disrespect to Seca but I would like to see a change in the National Team management (not me by any means :))...maybe somebody else can get a better result and take our team further....I see we have some good players.....
Anyways how does that go....at the end of Seca's tenure this season do we nominate somebody else or....???
Thanks all

I'm sorry the results aren't up to your expectations.
I'm disappointed myself. I made a tactical error in the first match playing the defense too deep. I made a tactical error in the second match with the throw-ins. I expect better from myself.
I will remind you we were the 4th seed heading into our group. Most "experts" rated ours as the weakest team in the group, and we were widely expected to finish in fourth spot. Taking nothing away from Slavko's achievement, but I haven't had the advantage or playing 1 or 2 or 3 men up in World Cup matches.
There is no need for a mutiny so early in my term. I've already said I will not seek re-election. At the start of Week 0 of next season anyone can run for the job - yourself included. But that is 2 and a half months away. It's premature to talk of a successor.

Robi, I think Seca is one of the best Canadian managers and I think he had a lot of bad luck this last 2 season in the NT.
Seca said it was going to be his last season as Canadian coach, then we are going to see another coach next season.
There is 2 managers that have never been in the NT that I may like to see Raskal and Orian (he may not have all the experience but he like to play underdog).
Managers who have been in the NT as Slavko and Deja can make good work as well.

All 4 of those would be excellent. :) But I reiterate that it's early to talk of successor - it potentially makes for a 3 month campaign. 2 weeks is plenty long enough. Plus it's a little unfair to the current manager. :D
I don't like luck for an excuse. There were tactical mistakes in both World Cup matches - I freely admit them. I spend a lot of time scouting and planning, but mistakes still occur - and always will. Sometimes you get away with them, sometimes you don't.
I'm open to suggestions and criticism. I do listen. (In fact, listening to input helped lead to the problem with the Germany tactic :P). But you are stuck with me for another few months.

Sorry Seca, I didn't want to be disrespectful to you.
I think you are doing a good work (anyone can make mistakes) but you are having bad luck [:D].

I appreciate the support. :)
With a simulation like this there are hundreds of little random decisions that go into determining a match. Everything else aside, when you lose by 1 goal it means just 1 of those decisions had to turn out differently. Wang converts the penalty, or Bradshaw chips the ball a couple more yards so Parker can pick it up. One of the nice things about Sokker is that you can almost always blame your luck. :P

True. Is like that in any other game (FK included) but here at least we accept there is luck involved (in FK they don't accept there is a lot of random and luck).

Yosarian, I never said Seca was not one of the best managers in Canada...in fact he is the best manager in Canada and his results with his team speak for themselves.....and I wasnt starting any kind of mutiny or anything....all I said is that maybe someone else can try something different, something new with the National Team.....I dont know where you all saw the negative in my post....and I said of course at the end of Seca's current turn....just didnt know when that would be so thank you Seca for clarifying that up....
Seca, you're too hard on yourself. You've done a great job so far & I know you're putting in way more the 100%. Sometimes the results just don't justify the effort. I also know you'll continue to put a great effort towards the NT squad & I for one really appreciate that :)
Keeping plugging, I'm sure our next couple of results will be stellar. I must apologize for not contributing much to our national cause but things have been quite dismal on this end.

I marked in black where I saw the negative part in your post.

No worries. :) In truth, I hadn't intended to try for the Canada job again so soon. I was expecting some changes IRL and thought this might be the last window for a while where I could dedicate time to the job. In the end those RL changes didn't happen. I can appreciate the desire to see the team go a different direction. But now is not the best time - we're still alive in the WC, and there is a long wait before the next election. Would be a good discussion to have a little later in the season. :)
Well how was I supposed to say it another way...relax yosarian....i think Seca is a big boy and did not take offence to what i said.....if he did i appologize
Ouch ! We have to win at least one match !
Go Go Canada !! :)
