Subject: Voyageur Cup - Season 13
Well, we're a little vulnerable this week - all B-squad for training purposes. If Laufer fields his A-team, it could be pretty interesting. :)
I guess I can concentrate on the league now :O
My B-squad lost in OT ...

We had a decent game. Bit of a curious approach from NK Duga Resa - really loaded the middle. Sibiescu managed to hold his own against the herd. Broussard really looked good as a late match sub.
Couple ET matches. Congrats to Pills United on a surprising upset. Bit of a tough loss for B&O based on the stats, but I didn't watch it.

I think my problem were the strikers. Hurne just celebrated his 100th birthday while Ruuthel played injured.
Curley had a good match, but Larry and Moe were nowhere to be seen...
Heehee. I guess you didn't watch my league match Sunday. They were all there. ;)
Not sure either team is happy after the Bens Eleven - Valiant FC match. Both teams suffered a not-so-cool injury. For a while it looked like one of those "hot keeper" matches. Valiant was 2-2 from the penalty spot - very, very, rare occurrence. Had my lousier ball strikers take them - maybe that's the ticket.
Some semi-upsets. Bonavista with a nice win over Rovers. Not Rovers best line-up, but some quality players took part. Good win. Hajduk Burnaby tempted fate by going to ET for a second week in a row ... didn't turn out as well for them this time. Grats to the Lanciers. And to Pills United and HL Football who also had nice wins. Real Hawkes - Snowhares looks like it was a barn-burner. May watch that later on this week.

A pretty nice win for my team, even without my big gun Stolarz, out early in the game after suffering a weird injury. My first ever shootout in Sokker I think, with my crap keeper, I still don't understand how did he survive that!
In the round 5 for the second time in my team history. That's usually where I get badly beaten by CPL team... hehe

Hadn't noticed the injury to Stolarz. That's gonna hurt. Makes the win that much more impressive. Clutch goal in the 89th according to the report. :)
Still 4 CPL teams left, tho I think Real Hawkes will be seeded higher then Bonavista - so you might be able to dodge a CPL team next round.

Elite 8. Looking forward to the HL Football - Valiant FC match. Looks like both sides have saved their A-squads for the game. Should be good. :)
Without Stolarz, FC Lanciers will likely have their hands full. Same for Pills United against Jalea of Scarberia - JoS has been on a real tear this season.
Bonavista - Real Hawkes should be very interesting. I plan to check it out after my match is over. :)

Real Hawkes will be fielding their A team. (minus a couple of strikers sold last week - they were getting old and I wanted to sell them while the market was still hot.)
Vancouver can beat TFC in the real Voyageur cup....anything can happen today.

No real surprises - all the CPL teams advance.
I guess I was a little surprised Partizan 74 went with almost a full A-squad (if Czembor wasn't suspended, might have been). Thought they could get away with a little less for fuller training. But I don't blame them for not taking chances.
My team's been struggling all season. In this match they finally started to click. I knew something bad must be coming. :P Biron's injury was a real wet blanket on the victory. Any of the other 10 missing training would have been preferable. With luck he'll heal sufficiently to drag his carcass around the pitch next week - but the injury is just the right length that it's uncertain.
The final score was inflated. Those headers that have been missing all season long went in today. Parise had the half of his young career. :)
Took in Bonavista - Real Hawkes. It was interesting watching 3 midfielders play up front. Generated some decent chances, just didn't have enough punch to put them in. Young Delorme with 2 chances to be a hero in the dying moments. Bonavista strikers were a real handful - terrorized the Real Hawkes defense and caused a number of defensive mistakes.

guilty...i played with three midfielders in attack, although the wide attackers have good striker and the central player, stevenson, has formidable striker. my hope was that their speed (incredible/brilliant) would create enough chances. Chines was man of the match for Bonavista - he stoned most scoring chances and would not allow any give-aways.
defensively, i keyed in on Leopold...worried about his technique. but, it was 11. who beat my wingbacks again and again.

I wondered how you would cope with the departure of 2 good strikers. Real gutsy choice to go with attacking mids on the wings. The game could have gone either way. I was sure that it would end up tied and that we'd decide it on the 'coin toss' of penalty kicks! So sure in fact that I chose mids that were good at shooting! Sure glad it didn't come to that....
Too bad about the LT injury to Garnett. He was causing havoc on the right wing and I was sure he'd score near the end. But he was well replaced by Delorme who forced Tomalak to make good use of his woodwork to save the game for BV!

I'd forgotten Stevenson had that much striker skill. He may well have done a little better with those chances.
Looks like it's a Bonavista double for me next week. ;) Kinda glad to dodge Jalea of Scarberia with Biron either out or useless (no offense Numerosix :D).

Hehe, no offense taken ;) I knows where I stands! I feel it's a feather in my cap tho just to have made the semis for the first time. There's some cash awarded just for that too, n'est pas?!
Btw, I notice most upper echelon teams have been awarded 'Bronze' in the Voyageur cup in the past. How is that decided? The losers don't play off, so it must be the team that loses to the eventual winner, no? You can see I already have my sights set high! ;)
