Subject: [NT] World Cup Qualifying
Apologies. I forgot about the Verville suspension. :)
It matters a little if the defender is there. :P Gives you a coin flip on which way the ball is going. Over the course of a match, those coin flips (everywhere, not just 18 yard box) can really influence play. Canada indeed was atrocious in the air in this one. Pretty much everything went Mexico's way.
The loss isn't a problem. The -10 might be. Less margin for error moving forward.

It was a pretty good try against a strong side like Mexico, I'm not a fan of 1 striker formation, I thought you should have paired Broussard and Lav. Also the defensive line looked too deep allowing a lot of space for their strikers and offensive mids to maneuver. Tough start, I had a similar experience at the beginning of my term, things can only go up from here. Best of luck in the upcoming games, and remember I am always willing to help with any questions you might have....
Grats on the result against Macedonia. A little unfortunate to concede given a fine defensive effort. I probably would have preferred to see 2 strikers, but there was no shortage of chances.
I'd still prefer to see O Lav, Verville or Lemieux (off-form I know) instead of Renda at DM, but can appreciate we may have been looking for a little more skill against this opponent.

Not sure what to say about the Israel match. Think we were fortunate to get the 3 points. Fortunate Israel's strikers were horrid, and that Madden saved the bacon in the 89th.
I'm the first to extol Broussard's virtues, but he shouldn't be playing in this match with that injury. Don't like the lack of a defensive sub on the bench. Should maybe consider setting a line-up on Sunday if there's a chance you won't be on later in the week.

yep, missed the Broussard injury, and apparently Zanardi couldn't play but there is a bug with the NT lineup page that it doesn't show that red carded players aren't available, so Dehere came off the bench at the start of the game
we won, and I thought that we were unlucky to not win by more goals with some of the chances we had in the first half
I'll take the points, and am still confident that we will qualify despite our GD

At first I did not want to say something since noone seems to care about the NT anyways, but:
How can you miss the injury of Broussard?
He was injuried in the match against Uruguay for 10 days (if I remember correctly).
I honestly cannot understand how this can be missed or forgotten if even I remember.
Well, you had the luck on your side once more but this won't always be the case.
One+ more or less bigger line-up mistakes in about every NT match is a lot, mate :(
I don't want to sound like an arse, but how is the community going to gain more interest if the coach doesn't take his job seriously?

I agree Deja made some mistakes but don't forget, he took this job because no other Canadian applied and it is our tradition to have a Canadian NT coach. He also said he has limited time.
In other words he took the job because he was selfish and narrow minded.
He sure was quick to critique the last NT coach after every game.Tsk tsk tsk

What are you talking about? I have limited time, but but I did set up the NTDB, we will qualify and I will live up to my election promises. The first two matches I had almost NO player info, when I was coach last I had a spreadsheet but that seems to have been lost along the way. Some mangers have been less than forthcoming with their player info, and important players are on a seemingly abandoned team.
I missed the Broussard injury because it does not highlight in red on the NT squad setup. I am not the first to make that mistake, we won and Brouss scored both goals.
Anyways, we have no friendly so far for next week due to a stupid numbers game. There are three groups with five teams, one team from each group gets a bye week that is not in sync with the six team groups. The two other teams that we could have played this week arraigned to play on day one.
@ loop: I was clear about what type of players I like in my election post. I said that I liked fast well rounded players and that my team would put more emphasis on tackling - ball recovery, because we do not have the quality in the midfield to break down the better opponents. Broussard is my starting striker. Even if I had noticed the injury, Manohar would have started. Either way Wyn would have come off the bench later in the game. His pace would be accentuated as the game slows down enough that our playmaking can lead to more successful through balls and crosses and his finish is most needed.
The odds are far more in favour of us finding a weakness in the technique of opposition defenders than in their defending or pace, both of which at this level are more than capable (in most cases double divine) of shutting a player like him down.

For me this is not understandable if you keep using strikers with 4 or even less skill points than Lavrynenko (this is 3 seasons of extra training!).
Go and calculate the goals Broussard made because of his defending skill that Wyn would not have made.
Are there any?
Since you also don't even reply on skill update skmails you won't receive any more information or feedback from my side.
Honestly, I don't care if you use Lavrynenko or not.
One match less is a lesser risk of injury.
My problem is the incompetence or lack of interest however one will call that.
Using old and no longer trained 3x magical strikers instead of almost double unearthly/superdivine that is still getting pace and tech training?
I have never seen that outside of Canada, but if that is your type of play no problem.
I'm not waiting 10 weeks for a pop to get ZERO response from you and having to find out that you use a striker with 4 days injury.
You know how arrogant that feels?
This is not the right place for a discussion like that anyhow and I did not want to start that, but the number of line-up mistakes is growing and growing, maybe using 5 minutes more per match can fix that :(

I don't have the skills nor time and I would rather a non Canadian take the job that can do a better job than I can.
If gorans statement is true
"I agree Deja made some mistakes but don't forget, he took this job because no other Canadian applied and it is our tradition to have a Canadian NT coach. He also said he has limited time."
Then maybe He should have stepped aside as he has before.
Thats all I'm saying and not attacking anyone.
To take the job just because no other Canadian wanted to run is also
not right in a multi cultural nation as Canada is.

Mind explaining this non-attack then?
he took the job because he was selfish and narrow minded.
See, the way I remember it, he put his name up late in the campaign because there wasn't anybody else on the list who could have done half the job he's doing now.
You have written at least twice that Deja "took the job". He didn't - he was elected. I didn't see any candidate who knows Canada's players better than Deja, or who would be doing a better job with our team than he is. IMHO he's doing at least as good a job as Laufer did last season (no offense meant to Laufer!). Sure, he's made a few mistakes; fine, that's what constructive criticism is for. "He's selfish and narrow-minded" is anything but constructive.
Meanwhile, if you don't like the job he's doing, then: Find someone, Canadian or not, who can do a better job; get him or her to run in the next election; and convince me to vote for them. Or better still, volunteer some of your time and effort to help Deja out. If you don't have any constructive criticism, please STFU. Calling our coach selfish and narrow-minded for stepping up to the plate says nothing about Deja and plenty about you.

I don't remember him doing that.
Anyway no offence to you nor I want to defend Deja but he apply for this job because like Lovely said there wasn't any other candidate who might do the job not even close.
What has multiculuralism has to do with sokker anyway we have some NT coaches from Croatia, laufer and slavko.
