Have you even watched the games?

I am not going to give up nearly half of our shots and hope that a few levels of striking is going to make him twice as efficient, because it simply won't. Other than that his shot he does not stand out in any way from several of our other strikers.

He is very valuable as a sub, and that is what he will be barring any changes in form to our striker group. Your petty threats aren't going to stop me from doing what is best for our team.
2009-02-18 03:23:40
do you even know what narrow minded even means?

no, I was not going to let a third division coach from another country who knows nothing about our team and whos tactics SUCK and don't suit the players we have AT ALL drive our team down the global rankings, how narrow minded of me... sheesh, and what a selfish guy I am finding extra time for the NT outside of running two businesses and spending time with my girlfriend and friends... get bent

!! he took this job because no other Canadian applied !!

Firstly, this is simply not true; dragos and alina also applied. dragos even got 3 votes.

Once again, Deja did not take the job, he was elected to the job. And he was elected because no other competent manager stood for election. Honestly, I don't care whether our coach is Canadian, Russian or Martian. I just want him or her to be good, and I suspect that most other Canadian managers feel that way too. If loop stands as a candidate in the next election, he's got a real chance at getting my vote.

The second-best candidate in the last election was reddy, who is Romanian. I had never heard of reddy before the election, or since for that matter. He said nothing during the campaign that led me to believe he knew anything about the Canadian NT, so I didn't vote for him.

Deja won the last election because he was the only serious candidate. Full stop. He happens to be Canadian, and for some reason you are holding that against him. So who is being narrow-minded?

These are my veiws and I'm done with this thread.

Ditto. Let's get back to playing the game.

both are history, no longer playing sokker and even at the time of election they been playing for like 2-3 season and this is not enough IMO to be elected for NT coach.

@ highc
for like 5 season I play sokker I newer saw a serious non-canadian candidate so why should we vote for a non-canadian.

Against the weaker teams, you are mostly taking as examples, Wyn would have scored more goals because of his striker and technique skill than Broussard made because of his defending skill.
I would even bet on that ;)
To take away balls from a Makedonijan defender Wyns good defending could even be sufficient.
Thanks for looking up the examples, though!

Instead of own quality you rely on errors of other players that you can't control and waste a world class striker (or even two depending on Birons striker skill) every week.
Well, that's a different philosophy that I will never fully understand, but who cares as long as you are successful ;)

well, that was disappointing

red card and dreadful finishing cost us that game, so we need to win by two in the return match now, which is possible for sure

puts us in a tough way though

my Wigan lost today on a last moment goal too, seems to be the trend of the week for me :(
2009-02-28 22:43:25
wow, just watched again, we were 1 for 9 on clear breaks, Swe was 1 for 3

wow
2009-03-02 09:12:58
Be aware,
Ruben Caron got a 2 week knock.
2009-03-14 17:17:25
Big match today. :) Best of luck.
2009-03-14 18:34:29
Good try. One really needs a better effort from key players in a big match like that. Neither striker was particularly sharp. Madden was next to useless. The red card certainly didn't help, though I suppose the result was well in hand by that point.

Full credit to Sweden. They gambled on the tactic they would see from us, and played a very solid counter tactic.

Canada can still qualify, but it's a tough road. We'd have to beat Mexico, and Sweden would have to drop points somewhere ... vs. Israel I guess. That would put us even on points. Would still have to repair the damage to the GD to sneak in.
2009-03-14 19:55:42
yeah, its bad. I thought that I had adjusted enough to take advantage of his counter tactic, but I guess I didn't. I knew it was going to be tough with both Caron and Iginla SI, and the teams overall form drop. I still don't understand why some games defenders react to crosses and corners and others they just stand around in the box waiting to get scored on. This game was one of the former obviously.

Madden sucked, no question about that, but we lost on all fronts. Brouss just lost the job of starting striker for the time being anyways.

I am going to shake things up quite a bit the rest of the way, we lack depth and well rounded players at all positions. I am not going to list the deficiencies, but we have a lot of holes in the roster that make it difficult to put together a team that is strong in all areas of the field, and many key players are getting older. So expect to see a lot more of guys like Lemieux, Ribiero, Nesta, Verville and possibly even Vafir and less of Iginla especially. His stats look good on paper, but he is doing nothing for us out there right now, I have some ideas about why.

I am not having the best year.
2009-03-15 14:42:43
The lack of depth is always a problem for countries with small user base.
I'm constantly monitoring the Canadian youth pulls and I don't need to say that I can't remember any half decent pulls :(
You need a bit more luck on that front.
2 NT players injuried, a few in bad form/day and you can't win against noone.

Good luck for the future matches!
2009-03-17 16:55:15
I didn't really expect them to play the same defensive scheme as last time - which banks completely on 1 striker against (though I supose it was effective in the first match-up). Would have been a great time to use 2 strikers (especially given the SIs to the two top OMs) and have them running through those huge gaps. Very easy to suggest in hindsight. :)

The first time we had the Broussard vs. Lavrynenko discussion Lavrynenko was well off his form. I don`t think there is much question he should be starting now that his form is better (especially in a 451 formation predicated on middie rather then striker penetration). Not that Lavrynenko was any better in this one. :P
2009-03-17 17:12:12
Definitely time to start focusing on the attack now, that we are in the hole and need to start risking it
