Subject: [NT] U21 Tracking

I think we should have a thread for keeping tabs on our youth players. I found the "Next Season's U21" thread I made a while back very useful - this is intended as a more "official" version of that.

Keeping all this data together makes it quick and easy to check up on a player's progress. Marks and value can be monitored. Those that "bloom" may earn themselves a call up. Those that fester will be dropped from the list.

The goal initially is to cast a fairly broad net. I've gone through this year's youth threads, and through CPL and Division II rosters, as well as my own notes. I think it's a good start, but there will be players who are missed. Eventually we may have to add "requirements" for the different categories. But at the start I think we'll use value and marks as a guideline - if you have a player close in value & marks to those in a category, please post him to this thread.

I should add it's difficult to evaluate youth players from just value and marks. Stamina and form have huge implications which can throw off judgment. The list will be refined. :)

A few other quick notes.

I didn't put much effort into the O21 (over 21) categories. These are intended for players 22+ that may still have NT aspirations. I can see them getting a little unwieldy - they may have to be given their own posts.

Nor did I put a great deal of effort into the U21 keepers. Fact of life is, it's not necessarily the best prospects that grow into NT keepers - it's those that happen to get the specialized training. For every 50 keeper trainees, I'd bet there's only 1 that gets trained up. And those tend to emerge from obscurity.

I didn't check all the links. If you find one that doesn't go where it is supposed to, please let me know.

I haven't really organized the categories (ie., the top name isn't necessarily the top prospect). We may want to try to do that at some point.

I'm THRILLED about some of these prospects. The 19 year old midfielders are especially promising. :D

Seca, could you add Dawson Maillet, age 21?

He is not going to be as good as Caron but he may finished close, he has almost the same skills than Caron at 21 (except striker).

There are no current NT players in these lists. Only potential players. Maillet is already on the squad. :)

Maybe we should make a list like they have on international forum, "the best of" so we can see the exact sum of skills of players....

Those threads only work when the managers are active in the forums. A large number of the players listed above belong to managers who are not active here. Furthermore, I find those threads are often badly out of date. I didn't intend for this to be the managers database - more a method of monitoring our youths so no one falls through the cracks.

However, if you have the initiative to contact all those managers and get the data, that would be great. You will need to keep in regular contact with those managers to keep the data current.

If you have the time and energy to do that, I will happily turn this task over to you. I can easily edit my post so that you can copy and paste it into your own posts.

Seca if you want, you can put together the database, and I will contact all the managers of players you indicated above(that is those who do not reply here). It is my job after all to contact the managers and ask about the skills of players.....

There's no point in me being in the middle. I was trying to help out because I have gotten the sense you don't have much time to spare. But if you have the time to take this on, I'll edit the posts so you can copy&paste them into your own thread. Then you can do whatever you want with it.
