How does the matchup system work for voyager cup? I am in league III and I'm playing someone in League III, but I noticed that some CPL people play League II people as well. Am I just lucky then? or them unlucky?

At the beginning of the season, 128 teams (in Canada ... depends on the number of leagues in the nation) are seeded. Up to now, that's been based on how the club finished the season before (soon to be based on ranking points as opposed to league finish). Teams retain this seed throughout the cup.

Each round the teams are divided into two baskets according to seed. It's a random draw to set pairings - one team from each basket to make the match-up.

The scenario you describe does seem a little unlikely, but the cup seeding is done before Q-matches and league re-balancing. I'm guessing the III team you are playing was in II last season OR the II team that managed to draw CPL competition was in III last season (or perhaps both :D).

nonono, You and me are playing league II teams, but I am League III so wouldn't it make sense that I face a CPL team (not that I'm complaining) and not a League II?

Seems you are trying to confuse me. :) In your original post you said you are playing a III team. :)

There are two baskets, and a random draw is made to determine the match-ups. Your team is in the bottom basket. You could have drawn any team in the top basket (including a CPL team). Seems you got a decent draw.

This (semi) random draw was a change instituted a few seasons back to make the cup more interesting. Used to be top seed played bottom seed (and so on) each week throughout the cup.

Ahh, yeah sorry my typo... but thanks for the clarification, I guess i might stand a chance against a League II bot.. see how I fare.. btw the friends and Associations in Sokker are kinda tucked away/hidden... you if they are planning to make them more apparent? i cant even join an association

I'm not sure what you mean by "more apparent".

Associations are a Plus feature, so aside from the National association, I don't think you'll be able to join any.

To join the Canada association, use the Search tab (Canada as criteria). When you get to the page there is an option to join. Since it's a closed association you won't be admitted until Laufer gives you the ok.

After you've joined, the easiest way to access the association is through ... you. Go to your team page, click your user name, and then the associations tab.
