Thanx. I have to try sth a little different this time. A win gets us through :))
Czech Republic's uber-winger (Pátek) is still a little beat up ... though I don't know "S" his SI is. Would help if we didn't see him (helped Turkey last week when he was out).
Best of luck! Going to be a tough match.

Nice try, and all-in-all, a pretty good result. I really thought Broussard was going to tie it at the very end there ... had a step on the defender on that final corner kick.
Was a little surprised to see Renda, and pleasantly surprised with how he played. Thought he had a nice match. Dehere was also a real stand-out IMO. Solid tackling and a good first pass most of the time. Madden was massive in goal. Pace cost him on the first one, but some really fine stops.
Congrats on a good WC! I don't think anyone expected Canada to advance, and the team was very competitive. Well done! :)

Yeah thanx Seca. I thought Broussard was gonna score in the 90th as well :((. Renda played because Caron was SI, and he played great, man of the match in my opinion.
I've got HL Football on Sunday ... have been watching Caron's status with interest. :D
I guess I expected Iginla to split back out wide in Caron's absence, with O Lavrynenko (or Renda) in the more central role. But your solution worked out well. :)

Good try.
Defenders did lose too many balls to the opponent strikers.
Funny was the double penalty! :)
There is a big weakness in the defending line.
Take a look at your tactic editor, you have the inner defenders one square ahead of the outer ones.
This has caused lots and lots of troubles.

Heehee. That struck me too. Would take a pretty ballsy referee to whistle two consecutive penalties like that in a WC match. :D
The double penalty was pretty funny. Another thing I forgot to mention is why the hell our defence didn't set up a wall on a Chech free kick that led to the goal?? Loop you are right about the defence, after the game I thought to myself if I played the defence higher up, they would've been caught more time in an offside and limit their goal chances, and possibly even win the game.....
The wall :(
I questioned the same after the shot went in.
It hurts to drop out of the WC like that!
The first goal happened because the keeper is very slow, but he saved a lot so we can't really blame him.
No faster one available?
The overall performance in this WC was much better than expected!
Good work my friend!
A good NT coach can do quite some harm to the stronger nations.
The elimination of Romania clearly shows this.
On the other hand a football loving country like Türkiye isn't really small anymore.
Just underrated.

A draw wouldn't have put Canada through. Would have been nice consolation tho. :)
I don't think it's a coincidence that the team which played the more aggressive defensive line has won the vast majority of WC matches (to this point). Only exception I can think of was Germany vs. Belgium.
I've experimented with a wall tactic before ... never with the success Turkey (and previously Hungary) have had with it. Doesn't help I was using my B-squad in these experiments. :P I find it a little alarming how well this tactic has been working. Looks more like rugby or "red rover" then football. :S

I agree.
Has nothing to do with football and I have argued against this a lot in the past.
It would help if offensive players would use their playmaking skills to avoid offside.
Would make these tactics ineffective and vulnerable.
/edit
Btw, I have seen this problem coming two seasons ago, but did not have much of a feedback at the staff.
Maybe it's time to bring this up again?
Imagine that soon everyone will play like that.
The game fun would be neglected

I have complained about the PM - offside issue on more then one occasion, but haven't been able to get any traction. (Was actually starting to wonder if it was all in my head :P).
I wasn't a fan back when Hungary was using this tactic to effect, and think the ME changes since then have strengthened this approach. I've been trying to draw some attention to it too. Wasn't sure if others were concerned ... or simply see it as a clever idea.

Will be interesting to see what happens when two sides meet that play Turkey's tactic...everyone will be crammed along the center line....
I've seen some examples ... will try to find a MID. It's just a pinball game - whoever gets better bounces comes out on top. An acceptable proposition if you are the underdog.

I think it's just a phase. When wingers were crossing balls into the box with high success rates for turning it into goals, despite not having high skills, everyone was using wingers.
At the moment sides will start these offside trap tactics, but as soon as one works out how to beat it, they'll stop. Romania had that game won tactically except in their defense where they tried to play an offside trap back. Had they sat back they most likely would have won the game imo.
The problem with offside traps is you don't know when they're gonna get used. When you do, it's not too hard to break it. I reckon Australia could break down Turkiye if we had a fully fit side to select from and I knew they would play like they have been. Would like a shot at it though.
Other than that it's not football I agree and it's a major pain when it's unexpected but an offside trap still is very risky. One fumble, one red card, one miss tackle and you're through on goal.
