All 3 CPL games played today were tainted by first half red cards. Bonavista has now collected no fewer than 6 early reds this season. So that's a red card in 50% of the 12 games I've played (Fortunately I didn't get one in the W/O over Third Lanark!).
It's hard enough to compete up here without playing a man short every second game...
Sokker has got to do something to fix this. It really detracts from the enjoyment of watching the games. If Bonavista was a RL team, the fans would have rioted by now. And this has nothing to do with 'aggressive' players. I had no repeat offenders!
I think this has come up before, but it seems to be a non-issue with the devs.

it's true, there have been a lot of reds this year, I have been lucky that mine were accompanied by reds to my opponents
I don't think that there are too many, but there should be less in the first half

two of this weeks were double yellows, so it is not as bad as it seems, the straight red to Sebrango in the fourth minute is pretty harsh, but he has always been a dirty player :)
Only one of my opponents got a red card this season. I was clean that day so I won...
Yep, that Sebrango is a bit edgy! He hauled my guy Dorvalino down by his pony tail last time we played and didn't even get a yellow!
Congrats on winning the CPL Championship again btw. Impressive, esp. since you went all-Canadian this season.

yeah i got a red card this week too, ended up tying a bot team 0-0.
now i'm going to probably finish 3rd place in my league. :(

I even got one in my friendly today & played the 2nd half a defender short. I didn't even know you could get a red card in a training game! I sure hope my defenders avoid tackling anyone on Sunday...
I agree completely with Deja here. How often does that happen? :)
There is a difference between a straight red and an accumulation of yellows. Accumulation of yellows suggests a player is over-matched, or is tactically disadvantaged. A straight red more often then not is pure bad luck.
I also think early reds should be next to impossible to get. There should be a "progression" of punishment. Couple fouls whistled, then a yellow or two, then the ultimate punishment. It is better then it used to be. At one time it wasn't uncommon to have a striker sent off on the opening play of the game. I rarely see that anymore. So I do believe tweaks have been made.
The red card against VFC Sunday did help sink us, but that's my fault for using a turd as my red card reposition. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I think a nice improvement would be a little more flexibility with substitution orders - so that when a red card happens a bench substitution could be coupled with a reposition.

Oh, and Sebrango isn't the only dirty VFC player. It's a team philosphy. We open practice working on our 2 footed tackles, then progress to elbow swings and shirt tugs. We usually finish the session out with a merry round of flopping. ;)
I pretty much ended my RL football career because of a coach who spent most practices teaching us how to tug shorts and dive. I said that he was teaching us to be losers not winners, he said that I would be better off in goal, I sucked at that and ended up on the bench even though I was the most skilled scorer on the team. And so we lost, a LOT, and I just quit playing.
I agree with both you and Deja that 2 yellows are not as 'unlucky' as a straight red. You can always conditionally sub an aggressive player who picks up one yellow. But..of my six reds this season, five were straight reds and only one was a double yellow last Sunday (to Grodzicki - a gentle soul who enjoys playing Chess as much as soccer!!).
I'm glad to hear they've tweaked it to reduce those early showers, but I think they could go further and make red cards an more unusual event. My main point is still that Sokker is after all a computer sim and it would be nice to sit down on a Sunday evening and enjoy most of the action without having your chances of winning greatly reduced in the early going....
I agree too that it would be great if they would expand the # of substitution orders. I play 5 Ds and once I've used up 5 sub orders to cover off the defence against the red card menace, I have only 2 orders left. Another couple would be useful in certain games.

Wow, salt is being rubbed into the wound. 3 red cards today in a losing effort:( And, now those players are going to be unavailable for an important relegation/promotion match next week. Blame the match engine? or blame the coaching? or the tactic? or the players? In any case Real Hawkes will be developing plans this week to ruthlessly take advantage of the situation. Bouawhaha
(Yeah, anyways, sorry about that and good luck next week.)

Hilarious!! I wish I hadn't complained about the 6 reds in 12 games played! Didn't know how well off I was! Now I have 9 reds in the 13 games to end the season. Thank God they had tweaked the ME or I could have been up in the high double figures...
Oh, and I also lose my main striker Soser for the Q. He had his 3rd yellow today. So you'll be meeting a posse of scrubs. Also, Chines, my divine Defender has dropped back to Tragic form. (He seems to like it down there!)
Of course, you could always play your scrubs on Sunday just to even things up a bit. That would be the sporting thing to do, eh?! ;)
Good luck on Sunday and in the show.

Thanks, for the luck. It came in handy today.
But, 3 red cards for Bonavista today! Wow. That is the dumbest luck that I have ever seen in sokker. I would not wish that on anybody.

LOL!! When I started this ill-fated thread, I whinged about having 6 red cards this season! Then I groaned in my PR last week about having 9 reds in 13 games. Now I can boast 12 red cards in 14 games, and I have collected 8 reds in my last four games!!! Oh yea, and I'm now seeing red in my last 2 friendlies...wtf!
I take solace in the fact that I was resigned to dropping back to div.II (I played eight reserves today) but this red menace is becoming a little hard to take. When does it end? And 90% of these red cards are being awarded to players who are making their first long walk to the tunnel in mid-game. We just didn't have the reputation of being an overly aggressive team....until now ;) Maybe now that I'm down to II again, it's time to walk the plank!
Anyway, it's time to congratulate the Hawks and FC Lanciers who will ply their trade in the CPL next season. The very best of luck to both of you and particularly to Lanciers who will be in the show for the very first time after persevering for 10 seasons in div. II. 04. May the force be with you both and may you may you get real friendly with the Sokker referees unlike Bonavista :)

Unreal, it's better you stop talking or your whole team will be red carded :D
I got three players suspended in my last league match....will their cards be cleared before the first league match in the new season??
