sooo, i dont get it... were my players randomly assigned positions or were they assigned based upon their own skill right now as they stand. my two most talented players are set to GK.... which is kind of depressing since i have 2 decent young goaltenders anyways! i'll take the money i guess but i need some good outfielders.
Well, if you're going to field a junior team, and you should, you're going to need a GK trainee to fill your net anyway...
I am guessing that each player had two trainees assigned random-ish-ly to be GKs with the rest outfielders; that's what happened to me anyway.

I have 3 keepers. one will leave the school next week though.

lol. Not to worry. The ME is set so strikers don't know there's no keeper. They still shoot hard high and wide when the net's empty! ;)
Interested in some of the juniors you keep around. Please don't take this as a critique, but do you really expect to get anything worthwhile from the first five on the list, (down to Chagnon)? From my experience, none of these will produce anything keepable or saleable unless they have stupendous talent.....even then it would be a long winding road to train them.
But maybe I'm missing something. When I first started, someone gave me a list which I still use as a rough guideline. It goes pretty much like this for the juniors I will keep:
Poor over 30 weeks
Weak over 25 weeks
Average over 20 weeks
Adequate over 15 weeks
Good over 10 weeks
I've never seen a Solid but I suppose the rule there would be 'over 5 weeks'
And I've never seen anything worthwhile from a junior who graduated as low as Solid even with low stamina.
Whatja think? Or anyone else for that matter. What's the general thought on who to keep and who to shoot on sight?!

Well, I expect 1 or 2 useful players from my youth academy every season. So, 90% are useless. My aim is just to not throw away a player if there is any possibility that he could get traininig. So, I keep close to 30 players all of the time.
Why do you think 90% are useless. IMO the system itself didn't change much
Even if the system is basically the same, our knowledge has shifted quite a bit. Knowing the age of our juniors is IMO a huge thing. I'd be tempted to cut 95% of 18-year-olds sight unseen, just because they're so far behind a similar 17- or 16-year-old. Conversely, I'd be tempted to keep a much broader range of 16-year-olds, just in case they have some talent. Most of my juniors are destined for immediate sale, and there's an enormous price difference between an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old of similar skill set and talent level.
It becomes a matter of personal algebra. Which is worth more to you personally in a junior, a year of extra training or an extra half-level of talent? Or maybe a few levels of starting skill?
And we have yet to determine how much the junior leagues will affect a trainee's outcome. This has the potential to be a game-changer or a complete dud, depending on the implementation.

I think the jr. leagues just became the most interesting thing in the game. Once they come out of Jr. they eventually move on to the big teams, we are going to know about the future stars 3-5 seasons before they ever play professional. That gets me stoked.
Now all they need is to add a domestic player rule - cheaper salaries or something, or even a quota or maximum imports in the lineup, and really get teams within countries talking about players and making deals. And player contracts, which is coming. The TL is nice, but too impersonal, the most fun I have ever had was when I decided to go all Canadian and started talking turkey with other managers :)

I train Canadians only and I have been for long time all Canadian (I bought non Canadians to avoid spoiling Canadians that could still received training). I think if there is a rule to make non foreign players more expensive to the club is going to hurt us more than most countries because we don't have quantity of good players.
