can someone look at my cup match and tell me why it went to extra time.
why my team had such difficulty beating a team half of my average rating.
i just think it should have been a decisive win playing this bot team.
same players and tactics as the friendly before...
a sub had to score in the 90th to take it to extra time...
any suggestions on how to improve?
and is it the recent changes to ME and height that could have made such a difference?

I dont think that it was the recent changes in sokker. I think that you were unlucky to end up with extra time.
In the future, there are a two things that you can do to make your team better and less prone to unlucky results...The cheapest way to improve your team is with pace. With pace your defenders can push up and play the offside trap, your strikers can get breakaways and your wingers can streak down the wings. The other thing is tactical. Every bot plays the same 'normal' tactic. You can take better advantage of this by attacking the spaces inbetween their defenders and especially down the wing. Crosses from the wings creates a lot of goals. And your defenders can press more.
I hope that helps.

yeah, thanks!!

i've noticed that bots played the normal tactic but never knew how to take full advantage of it.
how much pace would you say a defence needs to play the offside trap? skill-wise...
excellent or greater?

another question...
if i put a striker (1) in front of another striker (2) or that they're really close together but 1 is always in front of 2. will 2 always make the pass to 1 instead of shooting?

i've had this happen in my opponents penalty area a couple times and it usually turns out a wasted chance
(2 making the pass instead of shooting)
how to prevent this?

With the offside trap, the better your defenders pace is the better, obviously, but, I would say, especially the central defender. Against bots, excellent pace should be sufficient.

Whether your striker passes or shoots derives from several factors: playmaking skill, and that he is designated "att" (and not "mid") are probably the most important. If striker 1 is in front of 2 then 2 is going to "think" that striker 1 is in a better position and he will often pass, but not always. Played like this, striker 2 will get most of the passes from defense and midfield and striker 1 will get all of the through balls.
What I have done in the past is played 2 behind 1 in the midfield, where I dont want 1 to get the ball (because he is a pure striker without very good passing or even technique). And then, in the attacking third, I move 1 and 2 apart and more beside each other. Also, in the midfield I often try to play the winger as high or even slightly higher up the field than the strikers - I find that this really encourages passes to the wing.

okay this is just annoying now... players can unpop in juniors any week? and i got one double pop because of an un pop last week.... cant they just show us when the guys get better?
2009-12-17 13:31:52
btw after 7 weeks of no pops (ever) one of my juniors managed to get worse!!!!
2009-12-17 15:25:45
That is interesting...an unpop after 7 weeks. He is the very worst youth that I have ever heard of.
2009-12-17 21:07:46
Wtf?! I had 7 players unpop from last week! One of them just joined the school at 33 weeks good, now he is 30 weeks adequate. This is really annoying and frustrating.
2009-12-17 21:13:48
the players are exactly the same, they could have popped up, you have to play them to get a clearer idea of how skilled they are
2009-12-17 21:18:29
I have a youth jumped 5 levels in last 2 weeks and other one 3 levels on recent update. Strange it is but this might be because of this recent changes and might not happen again!!
2009-12-17 21:31:34
uhhh, he isn't actually at the level you are seeing, I don't know how else to explain this, they are not real pops up or down, they are just what your coach 'thinks' the skill is
2009-12-17 21:34:40
We call it talent!!
2009-12-18 06:17:38
so this is new? and how then can we get any true indication of talent or is it all a guessing game now?
2009-12-18 06:54:34
that's pretty much the point, talent has always been hidden, you could just figure out about how talented a player was by watching his youth skill go up, so it wasn't really hidden

now it is exactly that, a bit of a guessing game. the level of your coach helps narrow it down - unearthly coach is within two, so anywhere from two lower to two higher

as the player plays games for your new jr team, you can get a closer idea of what his actual youthskill is

this is really good, because it now means that teams may actually find 'diamonds in the rough' that would normally be gobbled up by the bigger clubs

it also makes it a lot harder to decide who to keep or let go out of your academy, so that actually becomes part of the game, instead of just "following the rules"

i guess.... lol they should let you do trades... and make your have contracts for your players (so they are signed through x amount of seasons. then you can include prospects into trades :P
2009-12-18 07:54:59
no trades, but apparently contracts are planned
