Subject: »[NT] Update
Sadly, no. According to my records, his average pop was ~7.
Tactic is set for our next game vs Moldova and everyone is notified. We straggled in our last meeting but I promise this is gonna be a completely different game.
Is there not a database for Canada where you can update you players?
There's no on-line database. I know it sounds kind of backward, but just send your player stats by Sokker mail to Slavko. Works just fine. :)
Darwish is something of a long shot.

Hmmm. Didn't get a chance to read that one. Since it was deleted, I'll assume it wasn't helpful. :)
The only compelling reason (besides making the NT manager's life a little easier) to set up an on-line database is to prevent managers from distorting their player stats. Since the vast majority of key Canadian players are owned by Canadian managers (who, one would think, have the best interest of the Canadian team at heart and are thus more likely to be truthful about their player stats), dishonesty hasn't been a big issue. As the game matures, more top Canadian players will move abroad (Parker & Giacomi have already ... who knows how long guys like Iginla, Fichaud and Abbas Musa will stay in Canadian hands) - it starts to make the on-line registry more compelling.
(Btw - I'm not suggesting International managers are dishonest - I only found 1 in my 3 seasons at the helm. But they are in a position where player interests are more important then the interests of the National team).
It's not a big deal to set something up on-line. Slavko has talked about it. I wouldn't mind doing it, but won't have time until July (then I'll have lots of time ;D).
Btw - there is a decent Canadian keeper on the TL right now. Stalteri has long been the Canadian with the second best keeper skill, but was sooooo slow players like Clemens were seen as preferable, so Stalteri never made the NT. His pace is a little better now, but would need to improve a whole lot more (given his age, this looks difficult). Plus guys like Chouinard and Madden are coming along very nicely. And Stalteri looks like he's going to be very expensive. May still be worth a look for pace trainers. :D

Would this online database directly link, for example, a player ID to the Sokker database? I suppose it would also have to be password protected as well so the owner of the player could only update the stats?
Interesting though, I've thought about developing a Sokker app for player management but haven't had the time :( I think there are a couple of good alternatives now too.

Reading between the lines...is it true that national team managers cannot see the skills of the nt players? Or is it only prospective national team players that are not known?
No we can't see the skills, thats why you need to send an update of your players to NT manager.

Correct. Some have been written to read the XML directly. One I kinda like is Argentina's. With theirs, you enter your Sokker login and password, and it checks your roster looking for players of Argentinian nationality that meet minimum requirements positionally. Once it's done it's search, you just click to update any players that qualify.
I must admit, I'm still a little nervous when I use it (always change my password before and after). :P

I quite like one that uses firefox and extensions, so it grabs the players but doesn't require you to log in through a site so less risk of someone deciding to be evil and steal your team and whatever, although it carries a risk of lies if stuff is manually sent, but lies usually end up catching up to people on that front anyway.
Those are nice too. The downside is that everyone has to download the those extensions (assuming they are using Firefox in the first place). Not a big deal really, but there are always some who are either unwilling or unable to do this. The added privacy is certainly nice tho. :)
England's is set up this way if I'm not mistaken?
