Participating in the U21 World Cup is looking more and more like a bad idea. I recall Lorne spoke out against it - it's appears he may have been the voice of reason. :) I really thought a few more defenders would emerge from the woodwork. Hasn't happened ...
Canada is currently ranked 25th in the Sokker world. Down ~3 spots from the start of the season (we have played a lot of difficult games this season). It's very likely we'll lose the next 3. There 3-4 teams right on our tail in the rankings - it wouldn't surprise me if we were 28th 3 weeks from now.
Which is getting a little dicey. We want to be a second seed for qualifying next season. Currently, there are 92 Sokker nations. In order to maintain a National team, a country needs to have 8 managers. 10 of those 92 fail to meet that criteria. Another 4 are at 8-9 users and could easily not have a team next season.
So, at this point, it looks like 13-14 qualifying groups next season. 13 would mean we need 26th or better for a second seed (14 --> 28th).
It's going to be dicey. :S

Ignacio Sutton, 19 year old defender playing in Poland, has been added to the roster.
Look for a few other moves this week. With 3 more U21 matches looming there is a little tinkering that can be done ("rearranging deck chairs on the Titantic" would be the appropriate allusion).

Pace on a young player is worth twice as much as any other skill isnt it. It is why I am high on this excellent youth (talent 4):

Please tell me you have some sort of mod powers to be able to find a post like that! hehe I don't feel so bad now seeing what he use to look like now. To be honest I don't recall his talent but you must be right Seca he must have had a decent time through my youth system.

I've called up Ryan Cooke, a 20 year old defender, even though I still haven't got a response from his manager.
I've watched him play a couple of matches. He seems to have good mobility, makes most of his tackles, doesn't fumble too much and doesn't kick the ball out that often. He will be a reserve until I actually know his skills. But based on his value, mark, and observation I am comfortable using him in this role.
Though healthy, he hasn't played for 3 weeks. Hopefully this call-up will either get him training again or get him listed on the TL.

Gjini is an awesome prospect. The last time you sent an update I responded that he is guaranteed to be an NT player.
I considered him earlier in the week, but at that point his form (as I recall) was solid. Given that form, I thought we had better options. Unfortunately I forgot to revisit him later in the week and did not notice his form improvement. Had I, I may have taken him (as the designated bench-sitter) over Cooke. It was my oversight. My apologies.

I think this is a bit of an over-reaction. But if you wish to destroy one of your best assets in retaliation for my oversight, that is your decision.
As I hinted in another thread, for the past two months I've had headaches so bad I have difficulty standing. The pills I've been taking to combat them do little to enhance my clarity. I would hope you could cut me some slack. But if you can't, so be it.
