Wow, great player! A triple superdivine, this week.
I guess that he doesnt need anymore defender or pace training..is he going to get technique and passing now?

Canada plays Scotland in Scotland this weekend. It should make for an interesting game. Canada has several players nursing injuries that will create some decisions for Seca to make to create the starting 11

The u21 team plays in Ireland as part of an informal friendly tournament with teams from the British Isles. Next week is open. (too bad they cant play club teams.)

Ireland U21 - Canada U21 1:4

Nice result. :)

Former U21 striker Giuliano Parise is listed. I can't really see our striker depth dropping to the point where he'd be useful to the NT. But he's a pretty solid Canadian player.

And a blast from the past. Luis Giacomi racked up 40+ NT goals back in the day when he and Amado were the focus of the Red and White strike force. His passing used to be much better - I found him a unique and fun player to have around, as he could be split out quite wide, and offer a different kind of threat.

Now tho he's just a pylon.

I've had a few querries asking about my intentions for next season. I won't be seeking re-election.

Congratulations on a good season with the National team. And a hard fought win today, Seca.

Canada has a few great players and overall quite a good national team, but the player depth just isnt there to qualify from our World Cup group, next season, without a minor miracle. Do you agree with that statement?
2010-03-21 23:49:33
It's hard to comment on something like that until the groups are drawn. Minor miracle is probably an overstatement tho. As a #2 or #3 seed you have 2 must win games - against the #3 or #2. Games against #1 are nice to win, but not req'd. Generally teams from #4 down are weak.

Canada is certainly good enough to knock most any #2 off on a given day (assuming we are a #3). We have world class players at most positions. The depth issue you mentioned is the real concern. So long as we have something resembling our top line-up for those key games, qualifying really wouldn't be a huge surprise.

Again, it depends on how the groups come out.

Good work, Canada is now at 36 in Word Ranking.
Must be 32 to have #2 seed, but it was almost imposible - big ranking points margin.
I'm sure Canada could be a strong competitor at any qualification group.

Well, I know that you are a top manager in Poland and that you have been closely following the Canadian national team for several seasons. And I know that you have given to Vince Lemieux consistent training making him a superstar. I think that you would make a great national team manager.

with Seca getting 100% of the votes last time around, it's anybody's game...

I edited your post Struś. This is neither the time nor thread for discussing candidates. The election is plenty long as it is. :)

No problem.. but I'll be back ;>

Hi Seca :)
Could you accept my aplication to Canada Association?
I resigned from polish one, and think I coud be useful there:)
2010-04-03 18:25:33
Not an easy qualification draw.

Group N with België (5th in world ranking), Lietuva(21), Moldova(59), Ecuador(75), Lëtzebuerg(94).
(Canada is at 36)

First two are favorites, and we must beat one of them to advance.
Very difficult task, but not impossible.
As I said, Canada could cpmpete with the best national teams, and here we have a chance to prove it.

Interesting season is coming :)

I added Struś to the Canada association. I'll do the same for any other serious candidates (serious means they make the front voter page).

The #1 is largely irrelevant in the draw. All are very tough. To beat Belgium will require either gross tactical negligence on their behalf, or divine intervention (ie., shots 15:2, plate of glass in front of our goal). Likely both.

The key to the draw is #2, and we did very poorly there. Lithuania is solid. Some kind of good fortune (ie., red card) would give us a fighting chance.

None of the other opponents is interesting. Essentially a 4 match qualifying season.

Thanks :)

I'll analize teams and schedule, and I think, next posts I'll write in association forum.
