Subject: [U21] Results

Hey all,

Sorry for the lack of activity, busy time with work :)

In our first match we were able to shock Norway with a solid 2-0 victory powered by two early RJ Tice goals, and move a couple of spots up the rankings.

This week, despite a red card we were able to keep it to a nil-nil draw in Venezuela, again moving the team another spot up the table. We were rather close to winning it late when Hume fed a perfect ball accross the face of goal but Dehere was just impeded enough to miss the finish into an empty net. Oh well, by the standings we shouldn`t have been in the game at all, especially with amount of 20 year olds we have playing for us already.

I don`t think that we have allowed a quality shot on target yet, and in both games our opponents got more shot attempts from midfielders than forwards, a very promising sign :)

Next up is lowly Senegal, our first match where we are rather heavily favoured. I am planning on playing an U-20 squad for the first time, which should not be a problem as we have a very promising group at that age :)

Had a nice result last week vs Senegal using mostly U20's

will be a complete U-20 squad this week vs Cyprus U21

this is a rescheduled match after Hayastan got scared and ran off to find a weaker opponent

so we are also rescheduling our week 13 match against them

Their third goal was pretty dumb. Just wondering, why do you play Dehere as a winger? His side skills are okay but they're not that great and he has better striking than Boukovolas. And why did you play Luther? He's in unsatisfactory form and we have a better 18yo defender.

We probably are short of defenders. For example Perrault played as DEF when he is more a DEF-MID than a DEF.

Tyrell is a defender unless he recieved tech, pass and PM since last season and he played mid, but my point was we have a good 18yo defender that I think is better than Luther and who is in good form who could have played.

the third goal happened in my cup match this week + won me the game. tho the funny thing is in the nt match it was a ex-hare that caused the goal.

ok, get critical then :) I agreed to play U20 vs his U21 because I was desperate to reschedule, he had better players and out marked us by 4 points... if we had a goalie who put up an 88 it would have been very different result, lesson learned, no more age mismatch matches in the future

Bol played up front because he has better tech and worse playmaking/passing, so he is useless in that position out wide

I thought that Dehere could do more with less shots from further out

I thought that Elliot would be more effective than he was, the ball was supposed to work up the right side from Mita and Dehere was more of a striker on that side of the field, didn't work out that way

Foster played because he is the better choice atm, i have not recieved an update on Berrera despite asking, but atm he is more balanced by far, and there were also training considerations throught the lineup based on the long term need for defensive depth during qualifying next season

all an all a bad day, but the U-20 group is getting trainable minutes which will help in the long run win or lose this year

after our great perfomances in weeks 1 and 2 I believe that we can qualify even if we are in a lower bracket, especially considering the quality of our 20yos compared to our 21 yos

will have to do better next week, though i apparently have to find a match becuase Austria is in the WC, I have no idea why the made a match with me.... sigh...

they hadn't played with winger before, so there is two goals right there

i thought elliot was played a little too deep and his passing isn't quite where is should be yet but hopefully next season it will be a little better... also i think we were a little unlucky too. it could have been 2-1 for canada in the first 12 mins.

and it was both elliot and cahill that helped gant with the own goal (:

yeah, it was one of those matches where the manager can only do his best to stay calm and not fire the whole side

much of it was my mistakes though really, mostly overthinking, I just need to play my systems and not try to be fancy just because it is international play

next up is another U-20 vs Austria, hopefully I will also have more time this week to scout and make better decisions

sorry to the managers of 21yo's, they will get games soon, but preparing for qualifying next year is the most important task :)

I am more sorry about that than you are, but I have been having though luck with injuries this season.

Unlucky match, we had the better chances and should have came away with the win.

yes we had some nice chances but unfortunately no goals. thought we had one in the 75th minute but dehere couldn't put in past the keeper.
