Against a stronger team I will definitely play 5 defenders. I will work on playing 3 strong midfielders with higher def. i.e In such games I prefer to lose a bit from the passing, playmaking or technique but having a very strong def to support the defenders. Strikers depends on the opponent. I rarely play with one striker because I dont like spending all the game hoping for a draw 0-0. I prefer losing 4-2 than 1-0.

Moreover, sometimes stronger teams tend to undervalue the opponent maybe leaving a bit of space in the back and playing with 3 very offensive players renouncing of a defender instead. Thus if they are playing with 3 strikers I will have a strong defense line supported well with a high def midfield moreover maybe getting those 2-3 chances of score since they leave some space in the back.

If they play with a less offensive formation , than probably since we will have a strong def line plus high def midfield, it will make their play really difficult reducing slightly their chances to score. However, if this happen , our chances to score will be lowered but on the other hand the chances that we get goals are minimized.

it wasn't good start ;)

not at all .....was not an easy match for us we played against a stronger team (rated 7pts more than us) . You have to consider we changed 5 players from the previous squad. we need to improve a lot but we never thought it was going to be easy. pity we lost a penalty and conceded another goal in the 90th minute not to mention the stupid 2nd goal conceded. We could have came out with a more respectable result. Mids and strikers with low form didn't help either.

This doesn't remove anything from Australia NT. They showed that they have a good coach with good tactics and mostly a very strong midfield and attack as clearly show the stats. They can be a contender to give trouble to both Croatia and Belgium imo.

After the first season as Canada NT coach , I decided to contest again canada NT cause I believe we can build on what we already started.

We did a good wcq finishing joint 3rd which wasnt a bad result. We had some ups and downs too but overall we did good . We had a nice win against Croatia and a nice draw against Belgium, the two teams that qualified in our section so not bad at all. We some more work we can even do better next time.

My targets next year would be a bit different than last season.

The main targets are:

1) introduce more youngsters

2) improve our ranking for next wcq to try to avoid pot 4 again to have better chances

I hope you will still believe in me and trust me again with your votes.

Regarding my participation and involvement in Canada NT i think i was always present and kept you informed with everything being done. Both in closed and open forum so I am not going to wast time convincing you in this :)

Bboss for the nt database he did a very good job. Without his work i couldnt have started properly.

You had the team for a while so, what's our strenght and weaknesses.

Also, what will our team look like in the next couple seasons. Future looks bright? Will we lack in some kind of players? Where do we need to step up?

These two are super good! Just become 22. These are the future of Canada! O'Donnel is almost doble Divine so he could already play in the Senior Team!

Also Goddard is nice! the last two seasons were great for DEFs!!!

So basically the situation is like this. In fact I pointed this out during last season as well.

GK:

We are set well here. We have at least 3/4 top keepers oldest one only 28

DEF:

We are not bad here either. We will lose 2/3 top players since they are getting old lik fo example De Guzman and Vandermoller but on the whole we are quite well set here. We have at least 7 top defenders

MID:

Here we are so and so. We have players here but we have to start working on new players since some players like Aucoin is now 30yo. There are some potential players here and in teh next 2 seasons Canada should have the replacement for these top players although players like Zaharrija (antoine and Joey) , Aucoin, Francois etc are very difficult to replace.

The only issue with our mids is that we somehow lack Def/Mids most of our mids lack defense

ATT:

here is the main issue we have. We have TJ who is 34, Milso who is 33 and Saliteri who is 30. They are our top strikers. However they are getting old and the replacements are a bit far from the skills of these three.

We really need 1/2 U26 strikers who can provide a future. If you can see in the friendlies (since the WCQ limited us a bit) I tried to play with different strikers to try to find out who can be the best around. We have 2 potential strikers but we dont have a complete one U27 . The ones we currently have are either very good in pace and tech and lack striker skills ore else they have pace and striker but lack technique.

I believe here where we need to work. Moreover I will be planning to present some form of incentive to users training strikers but I am still thinking about how I should go around this.



Otherwise overall we are not that bad. This last season we drastically reduced the high ages we had and now we have a much more young and compete squad. I think in this matter we did a good job and the U26 matches gave us space to introduce new people.

every week I try to introduce new people. If elected next season my target is to keep on giving more space to new players and than try to set up a squad with at least 80% U27 so that we will have a squad who can perform for at least the next 4 seasons. Giving us time to train new players.


One has to keep in mind that the number of users in Canada is pretty low. I can assure you however that although in Malta we are double the users we are far away from having the same players as we have in the Canadian Database. So we are already doing quite well.

Off hand I can tell you that probably from the top 50/55 teams we are one of the smalles countries (user wise) with only 42 users.

That means users are doing a good job. Considering the number of users we have here , the U21 performs well regularly (reaching even semis in WC) and the senior Nt did some good games and got some nice results too, though not consistent all the time.

We need to keep the continuity to get better rankings, which at the moment is one of the top concerns. We need to be at least position 48 (which is ver reachable) at the end of next season so at least we avoid pot 4 again. That will be one of the top priorities. Planning friendlies well will be of utmost importance next season to help reaching this target.

Concerning your point about defensive midfielder, what would be the stats your looking for? Not talking about beast like was Vince Lemieux in his prime, but for a good NT Def-mid.

I do train mid, but I tend to go for wingman, so lots of pace, passing, tech and PM. Def goes up slowly along the way with side pops, but it's not a priority.

What stats would need to be sacrifice the get more defense, in your opinion?
