That's pretty much the way I saw it too.
I don't know if I'll regret it for next week, but I'm going to try something I've never done yet. I'm very accustomed to playing with 2 mids + winger or 3 strikers. But since we don't have top strikers I won't try to play with 3, and since no winger I will most likely steer away from that too.
I do like the first tactic I played with today for our current team even though it worked worse, but I've altered it and think it should be better (I made it slightly more defensive. Not a huge tweak. I think the offensive third is kept the same pretty much).

With the first formation (4 at the back) we went 3-0, and then second half switching to a 5 at the back we went 1-0. I actually think the 4 at the back formation Isn't bad, it just obviously is not good vs a Slovakia side who is so much stronger and using a winger. There's no need for the extra 2 men in midfield. I also have adjusted one of the midfielders in this 4 man midfield, since I felt he was in the wrong places often.
I think the 5 at the back formation is actually pretty solid. We had a penalty that we missed in the 55 minute, and although they had some good chances the ONLY goal they scored in the second half was a screamer from far out. I'm going to adjust a couple of things on this formation again.
Overall, I think we're getting closer and closer to where we need to be. I have a solid idea of what I'm going to use next week :)
Most of top teams play with 5 defenders, that's a fact :P
I always play with 5 defenders, this was the first time I ever played with 4 I think :D Thought I'd give it a shot, and with a stronger team I actually think it's not bad. But I myself much prefer my other formations.
When we are way better than the opponent maybe the 5th defender is useless. But we are not so strong usually :)
No I 100% agree with you :D 5 at the back is just the best/safest option. Playing with my second half formation in the first half would give us the best chance of getting a result vs Slovakia. Something like a 1-1. We'd still get dominated in terms of possession, but there would be a chance to hold the defense and score 1 or 2 of the chances we get. (We had 2 nice chances this game, and then a header from the 18 yard line by Gallardo that went way wide :D)

Lombardo still injured for today's game, and this week Pizzolitto is out too :(
Thin team today
*Although I'm really hoping we strike the ball and actually get some goals today :)

Finally our first goal...
After watching the match I thought it wasn't bad. We had some decent chances, two were in the first 35 minutes, one by Belanger and one by Gallardo(did not even get a shot off, just dribbled it to the GK...). Again in the 59th minute Gallardo dribbles it right into the keeper in a 1 on 1 situation, but was able to score a goal from 18+ yards out :D
I thought our defending was quite good, mids were fine too with some good passes and defensive play, but our strikers... They still need a lot of work.
in the 60th min we switched to a slightly more attacking formation with a center attacking mid, and I actually quite liked it. The cam was open quite often in the middle, which may have left us more suspect in our defensive concerns, but also helped bring their center mid back more defensively to cover. We definitely could have given the cam the ball more though.
Next week for the first time we play someone the same skill level as us, so I'm hoping to get our first win! Let me know if anyone has any thoughts :)

Thanks. I haven’t seen the game yet, but looks like change in tactic gave us a good result. We dominated Australia. We won 2-1
Good result!
Now we know who was the cancer of the team haha

Gallardo is our future, but not our best striker(at the present time) We need to win games too.. although cameron is better goalie dauchez has better form. I found in previous game playing 5-3-1-1 gave us better result
