Subject: Match Day

Some interesting matches as the season winds down:

II.03 looks really tight. Two potentially entertaining matches there:

Hajduk Burnaby - Bonavista
Ben's Eleven - NK Duga Resa

And a clash between co-leaders in II.04

FC Lanciers - Pills United

In the CPL, the Valiant FC - Partizan 74 is always worth the price of admission.

Any other good ones to watch for?

(Edit: the links don't do anything now, but they should be fine once the match is run.)

Some great matches! :)

Błaś provided some nice runs down the right flank for Hajduk Burnaby, but wasn't able to convert them into much. Manohar was really missed - Houston contributed little. Valle didn't take his chances well in the first half, but made up for it a little in the second. Leopold's winner was one of the more heroic goals you'll see in Sokker. :D

I was impressed with Demanche in the Ben's Eleven - NK Duga Resa match. Made some good decisions and passes for a striker. :) NK Duga Resa did a good job of weathering the assault and counter-attacking when they could.

Costly match for FC Lanciers - both strikers injured and a suspension to defender Strindberg. Thought the red card might tilt things, as Bai seemed to be well positioned to take advantage, but he didn't come through. Playing with 10 didn't phase Lanciers much at all. :)

The Valiant - Partizan 74 match wasn't one of the more memorable between the two sides. Not a great deal of scoring opportunities, and the ones there were weren't taken very well. I usually try to keep Amado away from Fichaud - didn't do a very good job of that in this one.

Results this week set up some great fixtures next week. :)

Week 14 - ultimate match day! :)

It's doubtful that Northern_Barbarians will stumble in II.01 this week. But if they do, T Syndicated - Real Hawkes becomes critical. Should be entertaining.

II.03 has a wicked final week, with 4 teams having a shot at the crown. Injuries to Leopold and Manohar could be key.
Bonavista - NK Duga Resa
Hajduk Burnaby - Ben's Eleven all contenders.

Will be interesting to see how Yosarian plays it over in II.04. I believe he's been focusing on training over results. But with Caron a star, and Barerra nearly so, he might take another run at the CPL. FC Lanciers - HL Football is the king-maker, tho it may or may not be interesting. :)

Some interesting games today...
Yosarian did step up for a win against the Lanciers, who had injury and card problems on the day.
Third Lanark took 8 goals from Surrey on its way to a convincing 5th place in the CPL!
And the NBarbarians did stumble unexpectedly to concede the div ii.01 title and quali game to the Hawkes. Yeah me.

The problem with HL is the coach, not the players [:D].
I am ok as a manager but I suck as a coach.

Bah. You're too hard on yourself. :)

I haven't had time to check out all those matches, but did watch the two decisive games in II.03. Wow!

Demanche was a terror for Ben's Eleven, but his finishing was off. Thought it was creative use of Mahoney - too bad he missed a sitter in the 26th. 10 man Hajduk Burnaby managed to hang in there and knocked both teams out of the running with a late equalizer.

The other match was just as good. Bonavista needing the win for the title dropped two early but rallied for 3 unanswered to take the lead. Leopold showed his grit contributing despite his knock. But Sebastien "The Rabbit" Fitzpatrick came through in the 87th. What a finish!
2007-10-09 23:21:47
actually it was rodriguez who came through in 87 th, a player who was a dissapointment this season, played last 2 games like his life depended on it :)

ps i like the nickname "rabbit".......
2007-10-10 00:13:42
yeah....BTW when are you selling rabbit... :P
2007-10-10 14:57:57
Sorry for the mistake. I could have sworn it was Fitzpatrick. :P

Raskal may have rabbit-related monikers copyrighted. :D In the matches I've seen Fitzpatrick has shown some serious giddy-up.

lol sadly none of my players are quick enough for a nickname like that :(

Barrage match day!

I've focussed on the CPL matches - if there are other ones that look good ... please add!

(A note about the links - if you click the number it will take you to the home team - no spoiler. :D The match links will go to the reports after the game is finished.)

1./ Third Lanark AC - NK Duga Resa
A match between (arguably) Canada's two greatest overachievers this past season! Third Lanark AC has a tight defense and scrappy forwards. NK Duga Resa thrives on quick counter attacks.
Key players:
Third Lanark AC - Ruini
NK Duga Resa - Fitzpatrick

2. Snowhares - Real Hawkes
Snowhares features one of Canada's strongest defenses, but the offense sputtered at times this season. In contrast, Real Hawkes tends to play attacking football and has some balance to its offense (3 double digit goal scorers this past season). The Lagomorph D will be a stiff challenge for the feathered strike corps.
Key Players:
Snowhares - Szerszunowicz
Real Hawkes - Stevenson

3. Black&Oil - HL Football
A compelling match between two offensive powers. Some of Canada's best midfielders may be on display. Black&Oil has been snake-bit with roster issues all season, and it's no different today with Iginla (injury) and Stoenesca (suspension) unavailable.
Key Players:
Black&Oil - Haxton
HL Football - Lindley

One other match that caught my eye was Apocalypse - IMG Futbol Club. With Barry injured and Garvey suspended, Apocalypse may finally drop to III.

The hares are looking forward to a tough match. Trying something a little different...we'll see if it pays off. It might mean that we'll keep "mister sun shine" Raimundo though. Unless of course he does another one of those passes :s Kisieliński will see a bit of action today too.

Curious to see how Third Lanark & Duga Resa pans out. I'm sure that will be an entertaining match can wait to watch it.

Poor nturn he's had such awful luck this season I wonder if this is that match that turn things around for the oils? Although Ruben "rubik cube" Caron might have something different to say, another must watch match!

Good luck to all squads today :)

You chose Lindley over Caron or Barrera or Lamo?

I think is going to be a easy victory for BO.
2007-10-14 22:26:44
I'm thinking the Lindley - Haxton match up will be one of the keys to the game. It goes without saying that Caron and Barrera will play well. :D

I almost went with Lamo. I believe you are suggesting his match-up against Żółkiewski may be more important. You could be right. I expect both teams will get their chances, and Żółkiewski is a handful.
2007-10-15 00:53:09
Lindley is not a complete player (but is he talented and good in several skills).
Watch my game is going to be fun.
2007-10-15 01:40:59
Even without Iginla, O'Hara and Santiago can make a difference. Ortega Santiago was pretty dominant in the first half.
