Austria II

1. Canada will be leading at half-time.
No. Game was tied. A lead would have been well deserved, as Preiner made some excellent saves in the first half, while Canada had just the one defensive break-down.

2. Canada will be leading at full-time.
Yes. Second half goal by Amado proved decisive. IMO the win was well deserved and the margin could have been more to Canada’s favour.

3. Canada will receive a red card.
No. A nice change to have an important match and not go a man down. I figured Omar was doomed after a 6th minute yellow, but he somehow survived even though he continued to commit fouls.

4. Preiner (Austria keeper) will make twice as many saves as Parker.
Yes. And then some. 6 saves for Preiner. 1 for Parker. The shots on target Parker faced bore a surprising similarity to the first Austria match - 1 break-away, and 1 16 yarder from a midfielder. This time he stopped the midfielder.

5. Canada possession + Play in Austria Half will be >= 110
No. I didn’t expect this either. I backed the defense off, the strikers were aggressively placed leading to offsides, and the defense panicked a lot with kick-outs - all of which hurt possession and territory. Austria also played a better tactic.

6. Canada will have a multiple goal scorer.
Yes. Amado had a good game and netted two.

7. Canada will hit the woodwork 3 times or more.
No. Canada did a good job getting shots on target - 8 of 11 is very good. I don’t recall any woodwork.

8. Canada will have a headed goal.
No. Amado had two close range (10 yards) header opportunities - on nice passes from O Lav and O’Hara. Preiner saved both. I’d hoped W Lav would get more aerial service.

9. There will be a restart goal (PK, corner, FK) - either team.
No. Some opportunities in this respect, but nothing came of them.

10. There will be a multiple assister (either team).
No. An assist free match. O’Hara was deserved of assists on both Canada goals. The first goal was on a rebound from an O’Hara shot. The second goal was the result of a lovely O’Hara pass - tho Preiner again saved the initial shot and Amado got his own rebound.

TIE-BREAKER - minute of the first foul (no duplicates please).
6th minute Omar committed a foul and went into the book for it.
