Team Canada Season 11 Pool Contest

This will be an experiment. :) I haven’t tried anything like it before. Not sure how well it will work.

The idea is that participants will pick players from pools (kind of like those hockey pools in the newspaper). Points will be awarded according to what the players accomplish statistically throughout the season. The trick is in weighting the contributions. I’ve looked at a few matches, and have come up with the following weight. I’m open to suggestions though, if something looks out of kilter.

PROPOSED POINT SYSTEM

Cap - 5 points

Completed pass - 1 point
Completed cross pass - 2 points
Assist - 5 points

Completed tackle - 1 point
Last man tackle - 2 points

Shot - 1 point
Shot on target - 2 points
Goal - 5 points

Foul or yellow card - -2 points
Red card - -5 points

(Keeper)
Save - 2 points
Win - 5 points
Clean Sheet - 5 points

Note: can only get one score per category. Ie., a goal is a shot and a shot on target, but it would get 5 points, not 8 points.

Match Bonuses
Top shoot % in match - 2 points
Top tackle % in match - 2 points
Top pass % in match - 2 points

(Some minimum for these maybe?)

Hmmm interesting, I'm game. How many people to you want/need to have it a go?

We'll give it a shot. :) Could be a disaster (not sure how the point scaling will work out).

RULES

Contest begins Week 3 (WC Qualifying vs. Greece) and finishes Week 15 (friendly vs. Australia).

Managers may join any time (will have a better chance of winning if they join near the start).

Select one player from each of the 10 pools.

Managers will be permitted 1 trade during the season - they may exchange an injured or under-performing player for another in the same group.

PRIZE - like the other contest, the winner will get to cap a player of their choice in the Week 0 friendly match.

Please don't edit posts - if you make a mistake, delete it and start again. :) Your roster will be frozen the Saturday that you choose your team.

Things to keep in mind:
- I should have a depth chart out in a day or two (may help with the decisions)
- there should be 4-5 U21 matches this season.

Rule adjustments:
To get the % leader bonus, must take at least 2 shots or attempt 4 tackles or passes.
Passes to start or restart won't be counted (that was why Wang's pass % was so high last week).
