You don't have to tell this to me, cometer - I was one of those that who started using this tactic in NT[more to say, at WC quals first 2 best assistants from group were afair North and Timpano - with about 14-15 assist together :)

Yeah, our midfield has improved a bit since then, but other NT's have also improved as well.

It's a bit of a "Catch-22" between predictability and playing to one's strengths (from my position, wing play is one of Australia's strengths).

That's pathetic. That is the most stupidest thing I've ever seen in a game of sokker ever, so much so that would never happen again in 100 matches of repeats. They never threatened us, we threatened them almost every single second of the game, yet they get a goal because we fumbled twice :@.

That was terrible. I agree with you in most parts and on my part, Byers is supposed to be in divine form and he played terribly with his accuracy. Zdrillic has off shots all night and Oliveira wasn't the flashest either.

Their goal was pretty damn farcical too.

wouldn't have happened in the engine recognised that the last defender should still chase down the ball even when the goalkeeper is by distance closer :(.

Takes the qualifying out of our own hands now, unless we can somehow defeat either mexico or argentina again which is unlikely but will try to.

5 games to go...
plenty of chances to make up for this game...
chin up :)

It will be up don't worry ;). Just took a little while to get over it as we really dictated that game and didn't deserve to drop the points.

My condolences. A horrible result. Very disappointing day for your wingers - they had tons of space but wasted far too many opportunities.

it happens, we got fortunate last week, we were unfortunate today. Thing is it would have been better the other way, and to get 3 points instead of 2, although 4 points would be better than 3 ;). Just have to make sure we grab another point from Mexico and Argentina and we're back in the hunt again, and that's doable if Byers decides he wants to have a field day and we give him the chances he deserves :).

That's what you get for playing the wrong Nikas.
2007-12-08 16:59:42
It reminds me of times, when I used the wrong Byers against NZ :p

What a shame that Willis couldn't play, he would kill Bulgaria with so much free space...yesterday he was slightly injured so I asked cometer to give him a rest and he got fully healed today...

For 1 I have not seen the match and I have had a good night tonight (graduation dinner night with a nice touch of...I will get banned for saying it...) but I am so sorry I could not help with the tactic.

After looking at the report though it looks as though we dominated the match so I am not sure I could have helped.

But once again, sorry mate that I could not give any input what so ever, and sorry to the Australian community
2007-12-08 22:15:56
hehehe i remember you were bagging him cause he was playing so crap =p
2007-12-08 22:21:05
Yeh, exactly :)

interestingly, we are now 4th in our group after Colombia managed to defeat Mexico last night. Explains where all our bad luck got transferred to....

Still we're only 1 point behind Colombia and as long as we don't have another hiccup against Bulgaria or Dominicana, we should be able to defeat Colombia in the final round and finish ahead of them again. Also gives me confidence that we can perhaps get 3 points against Mexico if Colombia did.
