Subject: National Team
Pretty close game in the end. Another win to take us to 2/3 for the qualifying campaign. As they say it doesn't matter how you do it, just as long as you do :).
Thought they were quite fortunate to avoid a red card in their defense line. 10 fouls is a lot to give away.
Congrats again on another win Tigermaster. Important matches coming up in 2 and 4 weeks. That's where we'll qualify or not. Belarus shouldn't be underestimated as they've smashed us in the past and have a better team then their ranking suggests.
Azerbaijan next week though, should be a pretty similar game as this week with a few more goals our way I would expect.

How much more unlucky could we get?? 45th minute Almost a wonder strike from Maras... Bar, Post.. just needed a bobble, fumble, touch ANYTHING! on it to score a goal! But NOOOOOO a foul against the last man?? How can that NOT be a send off! Belarus should be considering themselves incredibly lucky!!! All we get is a penalty that gets hit wide..
60th Minute, 1 on 1 vs their Keeper, Storey with the ball.. straight into the keeper, who parries it away, a few steps closer and Maras would have been there to drive the goal home.
They get a wonder strike from outside the box, Papaluca slightly out of position and bang, bottom corner. We had numerous 1 on 1's but couldnt put them away, even a few nice crosses from Willis into the strikers. A win next time against Belarus is a must... anything less is simply a failure. Disappointing game.. Will go back to the drawing board for the next game. :(

And even when you do take risks you end up being killed for it 8/10 times.
Who would you play that didn't already?
Easy to criticise but it's hard to realise that for the most part we had more and better chances.
Also easy to say you should do this without realising what we've actually got to use at our disposal. That's something you have no clue about I guarantee :).
45th minute should have been a goal, to foul a player 1mm from the line is incredibly harsh and thats after the one on one the ball rebounded off the post.
I can think of at least 4 more 1 on 1 chances we had that weren't taken.
At the other end I can only recall 2-3 strong chances which they didn't score from but instead they slam home a belter from range.
you played very cautious , you gave the midfield to the Belarus and why you lost!
You got divine powers suddenly? We lost because we didn't take advantage of our chances and they took theirs. End of story.
Ok yeah TM did give them the midfield as I think the placement of Plesa/Timpano was a little off and should have been more square with Beauchamp, and perhaps there is possibility to argue the midfield was too far away from the defenders, but still we kept them to fewer shots than us and from those 9 about 3-4 were sprayed from range. How many posts did we hit?
From what I saw I thought TM was a little hard done by. Ok there were flaws but it's easy to pick and criticise things afterwards. The intent was to protect the wings because I'm sure TM knew the threat of their winger/s. You can't leave a winger alone in this situation so he thought a 5 man defense was the job. You end up being pasted that way if you don't protect the wing.
In the end I just think that the gap between the midfield and defense along with the solo central midfielder playing a lone defensive midfielder allowed to many threatening passes to their strikers. The other was simply down to our strikers being unable to finish from the numerous chances they had.
Fortunately we're not out of the campaign yet despite being what I'd argue an unlucky result. We beat them in 2 weeks and we're back on par and you never know what the other results will be. RD might get lucky and draw or beat Belarus. We might be able to pull out a fluke against Belgium to draw (it's possible as unlikely as it seems).
Makes it difficult though but not impossible :).
