From a different angle losing some of the NT players and reducing the pool, gives us smaller clubs a better chance of growing an NT prospect :) I think its a big ask to let all NT players stay plus it would make the game pointless if only the best players play in NT ...can you honestly say the best players of the country are playing in the real Socceroos squad...im sure theres plenty undiscovered or unrecognised talent out there.

Just to show the improving nature of the national team, Sharpley is probably equivalent, even better than the injury-ravaged Kris Hirons at the same age... and Hirons played 44 games for the NT.

Oh no! Byers was a very bright talent... one of the brightest! He had a great U21 NT career and was looking good for the senior NT.

I'm going this evening on holidays in Spain (Barcelona and Costa Brava) the saturday match against belgium is ready, hope to finnish this season with a good result :)

There wasn't a thread so I'm putting my post here. Andreasson, you've got some explaining to do. Why didn't you put up a tactic? That's the earliest we've ever been knocked out of a mini world cup and to get knocked out when they didn't even put out a good tactic themselves is embarrassing. Admittingly, there are times when things are unavoidable so it's why I'm opening up the question for you to explain.

In further news, Stephenson 0 from 7. How many more chances do you want to give this guy before you realise he can't convert :p.

I think there are 2 main problems.

1) Managers come trying to get elected for their own satisfaction to say "look at me, I have run a NT"and so only focus on setting matches and on winning.

2) Managers have different cultural backgrounds and quite often what works in country A doesn't work in country B and they haven't really adjusted properly.

Without trying to sound biased and just considering the Senior NT (U21 NT has members such as vivski,Minkee who have both performed incredible efforts), in terms of being community driven we haven't had that since both yourself and myself were in charge. Obviously this has still happened with those U21 NT Managers too but it hasn't happened from the top down. Most managers we had were a bit more match driven.

We've still got the rest of this season left but it's not going so well atm. Hopefully that changes and quickly.

I`m not bored.
I`m sorry what happened last week.
I was 4 days away, on 2 weddings. The problem was, that the russian coach only accepted the game on thursday and I went away on thursday evening. I`m sorry, but I didn`t get the time to change the set-up. It`s poor, and how I said, I`m sorry...

In fairness to my post, I didn't actually label you in either of those categories. You've had about 5-6 weeks in the job and it's not really sufficient to make a judgement yet.

I was referring to my general impression across past seasons more so then a particular season.

If you don't believe me, read some of the posts in the mini world cup where I pretty much mentioned it was likely something had crept up that was unavoidable (it happens), so all I was really after was an explanation about why and given it's been a week I think we're entitled to be a little concerned ;).

Edit: I realise you're probably referring to borkos there but yeah. I was actually replying to borkos' last sentence so I'll insert the quotes I was replying to.
