Well we were the better team all 3 games and only won one...I think Bolivia managed to break through with the winger once and scored a goal, while Erdogan managed to be in a clear position to pass from the wing about...20? times and still we couldn't score from any of those...
There have really been 2 noticeable things the current match engine has changed from previous match engines.
1) A single striker is easily contained as defenders now act a little bit smarter.
2) Wingers effectiveness has drastically reduced as crosses are less dangerous.
So playing a single striker, single winger formation is going to be a gamble.
I would have thought a 4-4-2 would have been more appropriate then a 4-5-1 personally. Interestingly when you switched for the 4-4-2 we actually scored a goal.
I just think that because goals are so hard to come by now, any extra support to keep defenders guessing is surely a benefit. Aggression seems to be key.
I also disagree with us being the better team for all 3 games. I thought the draw tonight was a fair result and the loss to Albania seemed fine also. The match engine appears to finally be treating things as they should have the entire time, shots at goal are more effective then headers which is a realistic change.

Find me 2 top class strikers for this game....Barnes - ok, Haeriti - not really, Leijer - injured, Huxley - no form as always
Yes, we've got a goal while playing 442, but did we really start playing better?
As for whether we deserved something more today or not...their winger has got to the final third twice and it made 1 goal after cross, Erdogan managed to get into last square about 20 times, uncovered, had a lot of time to cross...and he did manage to cross properly most of the times, the problem is that Barnes' shots were terribly weak and most of the time he was beaten to the ball by defs
We had the ball for most of the time, we were much more aggressive, we've got almost 4 times more shots than they did...how come that was a fair result?

It's not a case of having 2 top class strikers. I don't have anywhere near that with our U21's for example or for my club. The fact is regardless of level an extra body there at least splits the defense to have to mark 2 players between 4 as opposed to 1, and if you get a shot off and it rebounds the other often has a tap in. It's really just common sense these days. You could have played Sharpley,Giannakopoulos (or however it's spelt) and I'm sure there are others.
You complain about form yet you happily played Stathakis in unsatisfactory form :).

He had 1 target to hit, who often sat on the edge of the goal box where a headers never likely to go in and was surrounded by 3-4 players almost all the time. What do you expect?

As we should playing 5 midfielders, we drew because basically all the chances we created were headers whilst being marked under pressure from the edge of the box (they weren't even in position). On the other side of the equation they played 2 strikers and were able to present more options and attract defenders to both players rather than 1. It's not rocket science to see how it was a fair result. They had better chances then we did, we didn't have enough options to create much and so therefore the 1-1 draw was a reasonable reflection of that.

Well, the thing is that when we add another striker to Barnes, then Barnes will be getting ~every 2nd ball, not every ball. And since even Barnes has problems with getting through defenders, you can only imagine what would happen with magical/unearthly technicians...
You complain about form yet you happily played Stathakis in unsatisfactory form :).
Same with Puca. The thing is, there was no other possibility - injured Stewart, injured Griffiths, Villafane already dropped a bit in skills.

Ahhh, as for Barnes not running forward enough in the box - in the tactic he always is as forward as possible on near post, no idea why most of the time he spent around 11th meter in front of the keeper...

They had better chances....? Their striker was well covered as well and they had one good situation...we had about 5 such situations with Barnes like the one when they score, seriously...

Leijer on TL for a decent price...anybody training technique willing to snap him?
How we managed to score only one goal will remain a mystery for me...:/
Still, a win against a nation of England's size isn't too bad. They should be ranked higher than 37....or should that be their RL team should be closer to 37....hah hah!!
In 8 hours we take on India on Comets Arena. I hope that we will do well ;).
Sorry for the result, but I'm out of options...each week we play on a different engine, each week players act totally different...how can I set up tactics when I have no idea how the players will behave? :/
Today defenders were total idiots...their marking, their offensive runs [']
of course we had 18 shots and scored 2, while opponent got 3/7

yes.....it's 1026....
& Olyroos due to it being the Socceroos but purely for the Olympic games.....when we can be serious about qualifying for it.

Thanks!
Another decent win against England. I liked our strikers today, also Erdogan was ripping their midfield apart.
