Nail in the coffin for any hope of top 2.
Not that Uruguay is an expected win or draw… it’s the the likes of Dom Rep where results can be turned around & a possible move up from 5th.
So there is the challenge, defeat DR & El Salvador in the return legs. :)
Bon chance!

Thank you for your support and interest. I really miss Sutton, because I was waiting for him, and now I'll have to wait again... :)

That sounds somewhat defeatist?
You can “wait” & accept a negative outcome, or use it as an opportunity to go for it with another player (or share the load with 2 players if next best are evenly matched).
Carpe Diem :^D

Crews has 4 more weeks to reach his tech pop before he turns 30. He's already up to +20 weeks of tech training. You'd think he's getting close.

OK great, thank you

Good result against a strong team, and that's even with a red card and an injury.
2026-02-21 12:40:50
Well that was disappointing to see from a tactics point of view.

No red card orders to cover defenders that get red carded
No slight injury orders to cover defenders that get slight injury (especially as we had defenders still on the bench who were subbing on anyway).
Both goals being in the spot where the red card player would have been

These are things that shouldn't even need stating for NT managers. They take less than 2 minutes to set up, but make a huge difference in matches where these things arise.

I was going to say, how do you concede 10 shots with a back 7. Makes a lot of sense if you failed to cover basic conditional orders.
2026-02-21 13:45:37
Depending on tactics and opponent, those slight injury conditionals may not make a cut, but red card are mandatory. I usually start with those when I prepare for my matches

Damn – I set those conditions for a central defender. I just didn't click on the position Kirkpatrick played :/ It's entirely my fault. I'm so angry because red cards and injuries have been a frequent setback for me this season.

Was just thinking about Aus NT strikers, and remembered about this guy.

What a beast. Look at the amount of matches he played for the NT

I remember him fondly. One of the best to come through my club.

I've been wanting to put together a Hall of Fame, to acknowledge the 100 game players for Aus NT.

I've been on the lookout for them on the TL.

Traj must be one of the highest. In my team are:
- Collina 149
- Selling 146
- Crampton 100

There are some stats in an Ancient Australian XI post, but only showed players that hadn't already disappeared.

A few other 100+ matches

Craig Butera 125
Rob Alagich 103
Preston Hammond 141
Jim Judd 143

These numbers may not have been their final numbers though

Coaches, the World Cup qualifiers are over. Thank you for the opportunity to work with us this season. I know we could have achieved better results this season. I admit I made a few mistakes, especially in the early stages of the qualifiers. Although our group was very evenly matched and I had a lot of bad luck, such as red cards and injuries, I ultimately could have scored more points with the team.

When I ran for election before the season, I wrote that I planned to stay in Australia for a longer period, but now my opinion has changed and I will not run in the next elections.

You are a very close-knit community, and the Australian national team has great potential. Take care of your players, especially the midfielders and forwards, and Australia will reach even higher levels. Thank you for your trust so far, and good luck in the future.

While the results didn't go our way, thanks for your efforts in running the show this season, both on the match prep and off the pitch. Hope you stick around and remain a friend of Aus.
